System Project Engineer University of North Texas - System Facilities Planning & Construction The UNT System Facilities Planning and Construction Office directs the preparation of plans, specifications, and contract documents, as well as manages the construction administration for all larger projects for UNT System and its component institutions. The System Project Engineer is responsible for providing engineering expertise in the mechanical, electrical and plumbing areas of construction projects. This includes engineering reviews during all planning phases and oversight during construction. The position will maintain the following: *Project development to ensure meeting MEP project goals, University standards and code compliance. *Reviews the work of staff with regard to the development of project design, schedule, cost and maintain follow-up through MEP project completion. *Preparation of proposed MEP project budgets and approved budgets through completion of the project. *Assistance with the RFQ and RFP process for selection and approval of professional MEP service providers and prepares final work agreement. *Working knowledge of appropriate building codes and various MEP infrastructures. Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Engineering or closely related field; five years of progressively responsible experience in MEP design and maintenance, preferably with experience related to campus MEP planning, design and construction; or any equivalent combination of experience, education or training. The following knowledge, skills and abilities are required: *Licensed Engineer in the State of Texas or ability to obtain a license within 6 months. *Knowledge of Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board preferred; University guidelines and local building codes relating to reporting and MEP engineering of physical facilities and construction or renovation projects. *Knowledge of different MEP systems and the advantages of each in an educational setting. *Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. *Knowledge of safety and security precautions appropriate to work performed. Experience in structural and civil engineering is desired but not required.
