At EVA Industries all we used to do was make sheets of ‘beach thong’ EVA - and sell it to the flip flop guys. (You know, the guys with the blond hair and vests.) Then we graduated to making more sophisticated, rubber-based products the ‘Brazilian’. (No, not the haircut - the springy foam sole.) Before too long (the time delay, not the Chinese supplier), retail was saying to us: “You make the base product - why don’t you go vertical and make the whole thing?” So - we did.

We set up a line* and started going head to head with the imports. One of ourfirst retail clients told us that a key element in the supply of such as volume seller as flip flop was REPLENISHMENT. i.e. “How quickly can you replenish stocks of a fast seller?” With the advantage of making our own raw material, and the purchase of a number of injection moulding machines to make the uppers, we have got this down to FOUR WEEKS(!) depending what time of year it is. Now working on new designs, trims (injected in-house) and new printing and colour techniques, we have found that ‘going vertical’ has meant just that - production output of sheeting to supply our own thong division has shown phenomenal growth and continues to grow, with orders that used to go offshore now staying in SA.

Give us a call or a mail. We’d love the chance to prove our ‘replen’ time. * Resulting in the employment of many more South Africans.
