Districts G, E, F, A, K all have very low numbers of health centers relative to the population. These five districts have a population ratio to health center of over 15,000 persons per Health Center. The Affordable Care Act has made provisions for the Community Health Center Fund that provides $11 billion over a 5 year period for the operation, expansion, and construction of health centers throughout the nation. This effort is expected to improve the performance of this indictor in Houston, and this indicator can be used to support decision making as to where centers should be located (U. S. Department of Health and Human Services, 2011).
