UNICEF is working with WHO, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF), USAID and representatives of civil society, industry and academia to bring the health workers’ concept of the ideal diagnostic device to reality. In 2012, UNICEF hosted a pneumonia diagnostics workshop in Copenhagen where partners: • c onsolidated a common platform to address the challenges of improving pneumonia diagnostic devices •o utlined three and five year roadmaps addressing tools, partners, research and regulatory policy, that would provide a foundation for the development of new pneumonia diagnostic devices •d efined initial criteria for the evaluation of products and devices.
