KAUSWAGAN, Lanao del Norte––This once war-torn town has been named the top recipient of “Gawad Galing Pook Award” in a decision released by a 15-member evaluation committee. The committee found the sustainable peace and development agenda of Kauswagan’s “From Arms to Farm” program an exemplary performance of good governance. Town Mayor Rommel C. Arnado told Mindanews in an interview last week the program was intended for former Moro Islamic Liberation Front rebels who did not receive the assistance promised to them. Arnado said the program did not require the rebels to surrender their firearms, just their willingness to support the peace initiative and at the same time avail of livelihood opportunities based on their needs and capacity. He said the program succeeded because the MILF commanders approached them. The mayor said among the MILF commanders who availed of the program were Benjie Lucsadato, Ysmael, Mutia and Limbona and some of their followers. 134 VACW cases in Davao blamed on men in uniform wednesday, august 27,

D

2014

AVA O C i t y - A total of 134 cases of violence against women and children reported to the city’s Integrated Gender Development Division involved men in uniform, an official said. IGDD head Lorna Mandin said that since 2004 when their office was created, 134 cases have been filed against men in uniform, 71 of such cases against members of the city police office. The rest of the complaints were against members of the Armed Forces of the Philippines as well as barangay police. M a n d i n , h o w e v e r, said less than 10% of the complainants pursued the cases. She said cases of VAWC have continuously risen since the department’s creation in 2004. She said the numbers were in the thousands but she could not give exact figures. She said that of the women who filed complaints against men in uniform, some were legal wives of the respondents while others were mistresses. Mandin said the worst

rep or te d VAWC cas es were those that combined physical, psychological, and economic abuse. She said many complainants whose spouses or partners were policemen were “afraid” to report their cases to the police. “But there are some who are brave enough. They ask for help from colleagues of the offenders or ask help from the IGDD,” she said. Mandin said the aggrieved women should ask for assistance from IGDD. She assured they could get relief under the city’s Women Development Code as well as the AntiViolence Against Women and their Children Act. “The women can ask for a barangay or court protection and seek free legal help from the city,” she said, although she noted that some women were afraid to come forward because they did not have the funds to pay for litigation. Mandin was a guest at Monday’s weekly Kapehan sa SM forum, along with Gabriela Partylist Rep. Luzviminda Ilagan. The issue was raised on the heels of a YouTube video

posted by YouTube user Hudas Ka showing Davao City police chief Senior Supt. Vicente Danao hitting his wife. Danao, in pre vious interviews, had refused to comment on the issue, saying it was a private matter. But Ilagan said there is no such thing as a private matter when it involves

violence against women and children. “Your city government slaps a comedian as ‘persona non grata’ for joking about the women in the city but look the other way [in the case of Danao]? Dili balanse ang atong lihok,” she said. “We don’t have a sense of proportion. In the case of [comedian R amon] Bautista you punish, but

shift reactions regarding a person who should be a role model,” she cited. Ilagan said she would push for a law requiring incoming appointed officials to be cleared of any case involving violence against women and children. “We do not blame the victim,” she said. “Why divert the attention? Does the wife of Danao dserve to

be beaten simply because he said he has issues against the wife? Let’s focus on the issue and that is the domestic violence.” She said she would als o dis c uss the issue with Interior and Local Government Secretar y Mar Roxas during their upcoming budget hearing in the next few weeks. (MindaNews)

Religious scholars in Lanao unify to support peace process MARAWI City, Lanao del Sur–– Muslim scholars and members of the religious sector in the province gathered here on Sunday, August 24, to unify themselves in backing the peace initiatives for Mindanao. Alim Abdul Hannan M. Tago, one of the speakers during 2nd Ulama Summit Conference, said that “the religious scholars have to be united first before

they can unify all the Muslims in the region.” Thus, the Muslim religious scholars who attended the summit unanimously agreed to reject disagreement, disunity and create appropriate solutions to any problem that may occur. They also expressed optimism that the Bangsamoro cause will effect a just and lasting peace not just in the region but

in the whole country as well. “Once there is peace and order in the region, it will also give peace not just to the adjoining regions but in the country as a whole because whether we like it or not, when there is no peace in Mindanao, there is no peace in the Philippines as well,” said Dr. Saffrullah Dipatuan, chairman of the Bangsamoro Development Agency (BDA) and

2nd Chief of Staff of the Office of the 2nd Vice-Chairman MILF Central Committee. Accordingly, the success of the peace process is not only the success of the MILF and the national government but also Bangsamoro people in general. Alim Tago thus inspired everyone to be sincere in supporting the peace process in order to have a lasting peace

in the country. He said the cooperation of the Bangsamoro people is highly significant in making the peace process a success. Meanwhile, Dr. Dipatuan emphasized that sustainable peace will spur economic development in the region as this will more attract investors. (Johaniah N. Yusoph/APB/PIA-10 Lanao del Sur)

In S eptember 2013, more than 300 followers of Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) founding chairman Nur Misuari laid siege to Zamboanga City which sparked a threeweek fierce fighting with government troops. The fighting left more than 200 people dead and over 100,000 homeless. Catapang said the Marine units that will be deployed to Zamboanga City will come from Sulu.

But the move will not left Sulu undefended as the 1st Infantry Division and the Joint Special Operations Group will be tasked to protect the province from threat groups like the Abu Sayyaf which is known to operate in the area. Aside from Zamboanga City, the AFP chief said he is also looking at the possibility of deploying Marine units in Tawi-Tawi, Batanes and Palawan. He added that this is ideal for the latter as their concept of operations is amphibious in nature and very mobile. "I want the Navy to play bigger role. It's a chain of bodies of water so we need to strengthen our Navy,” Catapang concluded. (PNA)

In a climate change advocacy forum conducted on Friday by the Philippine Information Agency (PIA), a 30-minute video documentary on climate change produced by PIA and a six-minute video produced by the GMA Network were shown to the students, followed by an open forum. The students were also asked to give their suggestions and recommendations to mitigate the impact of climate change. “We have to plant trees so that we can help the government address climate change that is already affecting us today,” said Armie Jay Anlap, a senior

high school student adding that “human beings are now suffering the adverse effects of climate change and so with our agriculture.” Grizzell Elardo, also a senior high school student, said “we have to observe proper disposal of garbage and avoid burning of plastics, as these would contribute to global warming and climate change.” “No one will be spared from the severe consequences of climate change. We need to act now. Otherwise, we will all suffer,” Elardo urged. Nasher Dulay, a freshman student said he is ready See back, page A7

For nothing is secret, that shall not be made manifest; neither [anything] hid, that shall not be known and come abroad: This gospel reminds us to show our goodness as our light to the society. In Matthew 5:16-Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. Do you have goodness? Are you showing this to the people around you? In Galatians 5:22-23-But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. Supposed to be these good examples and attitudes must be visible in our lives since in this way, God is manifested. Meaning, if you possessed the good qualities, it is the same that God is in you. In showing goodness, God is glorified. Luke 6:46-and why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say? This means that to become worthy in serving God, we must do repentance first. By Cheng Ordonez, Associate Editor

AVAO City - Yamaha Motor Philippines, Inc. announces a very promising prospect in sales of its XZT125 -- hitting more than a thousand unit sales -- after its successful launch last month at the Yamaha Head Office in Lima, Batangas, and on August 24, 2014, revved the off-road tracks, at the heart of Mindanao adventures -- Davao.

Yamaha takes the Mindanao off-roads at the 29th Kadayawan Cyclomax Mx in Davao Crocodile Park Complex in Ma-a, where riders in the south were treated to twin demonstrations and exciting race, at the dirt tracks with the arrival of, not just one, but two off-road gems -- the XTZ125 and the Serow250.

Gov’t pursues investments in Mindanao with 29.5% of P287.83-B DPWH budget By Cheng Ordonez, Associate Editor, with PNA

At least, Php63.12 billion, 29.5 percent of the Php287.826 billion of the 2015 proposed budget of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), is allocated to Mindanao, where Php18.33 billion is intended for Region 10. Public Works and Highway Secretary Rogelio Singson earlier said the total Php63.12 billion budget for southern Philippines is divided to five regions, which aims to construct undertakings, including the Mindanao Logistics Network and the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao Infrastructure Program. The DPWH will pursue investments for next year in upgrading quality and safety of roads and bridges, better access to tourism destinations, airports, seaports and RORO Ports and food production areas and flood risk reduction program and structure resilience and

resiliency and disaster risk management projects. The allocation for the said regions are as follow: Region IX (Php11.81 billion), Region X (Php18.33 billion), Region XI (Php13.73 billion), Region XII (Php8.89 billion) and Region XII (Php10.36 billion). Northern Luzon got 23.3 percent or Php49.73 Billion of the total budget, distributed to CAR (Php10.18 Billion), Region I (Php11.30 Billion), Region II (Php8.28 Billion) and Region III (P20.00 Billion) while Southern Luzon was given P43.84 Billion or 20.5 percent, Region IV-A (Php17.16 Billion), Region IV-B (Php12.48 Billion) and Region V (Php14.20 Billion). For the Visayas, Php37.85 Billion or 17.7 percent will be given to three regions, Region VI (Php13.96 Billion), Region VIII (Php13.04 Billion) and Region VIII

(Php10.85 Billion). Singson explained that the allocation is part of the DPWH’s regular budget. The rehabilitation of Zamboanga City, which has been included in last year’s allocation, is excluded. The same with the calamity and Bangsamoro funds. The budget for the region for next year does not include the Yolanda Rehabilitation/Reconstruction budget amounting to Php22.7 Billion. The National Capital Region (NCR) got the smallest amount at Php19.29 Billion or 9.0 percent. He added that the total capital outlays for 2015 is at Php269.71 Billion, 64 percent or Php173.51 Billion is allocated to the construction and rehabilitation of highways (roads and bridge) nationwide. Meanwhile, Singson reported that a total of 4,106 kilometer of newly paved national roads were completed comprising 88

percent by the end of 2013. The DPWH is targeting to make all temporary bridges along national roads See dpwh, page B7

The Serow250 was also introduced last month at the Yamaha’s Head Office in Lima, Batangas, along with the XZT125, and, in less than a month, these machines made their way to the roads of Mindanao and the unpaved terrain of the Kadayawan MX. At a press conference, See yamaha, page B7

Nine MSMEs, firms in GenSan cited for role in local economy

G

ENERAL Santos City - The city government has recognized nine local enterprises and companies for their contributions to the area’s thriving economy and micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) sector. Mayor Ronnel Rivera said Tuesday they gave out special awards and citations to selected MSMEs and companies based or operating in the city for their outstanding performances and resiliency in the wake of various socio-economic challenges confronting the sector. He said they conferred the special recognitions at the recent 6th Yaman Awards spearheaded by the local government and the city’s Small and Medium Enterprises Development (SMED) Council. The event, which was supported by the Department of Trade and Indus-

try (DTI) Region 12, was among the highlights of the city’s annual Yaman (Yabong Maliliit na Negosyo) GenSan business month celebration. Among the awardees was the Rey Store, one of the longest-running general merchandise shops in the city, which was recognized as the Loyal Enterprise of the Year. The award is given to enterprises that have long been existing and continually providing quality services to local residents. For the Local Taxpayer of the Year, which is given to entities with the highest local tax remittance, the awardees were the Gaisano Dadiangas Inc., KCC Property Holdings Inc., Philip Morris Fortune Corp. Inc., Toyota General Santos Inc. and the Philbest Canning Corporation. Gaisano and KCC operate two of the city’s and the

entire Region 12 or Soccsksargen’s biggest shopping malls. For the Entrepreneur of the Year, the Yolly’s Puto and Pancit Malabon received the award for the microenterprises category; Mix & Magic cakes and pastries for the small enterprises; and, the South Cotabato Integrated Port Services Inc. for the medium enterprises. The microenterprises category covers business entities with capitalization of P3 million and below while the small enterprises

were those with infused investments of P3 million to P15 million. The medium enterprises category involves ventures or businesses with capitalization ranging from P15 million to P100 million. The city SMED Council noted in a report that the awardees also received cash incentives from the local government. It said the Loyal Enterprise of the Year and Entrepreneur of the Year awardees received incentives of P25,000 each while the

top five Local Taxpayer of the Year awardees received P10,000 each. Dorecita Delima, DTI Region 12 assistant director, said this year’s awardees were chosen by a panel of evaluators coming from the city government and the private sector. She said the selection of the awardees were based on specific criteria and dimensions, and is not “subjective”. “It was based on available data, figures as well as results of quantitative and qualitative assessments,”

Delima said. Rivera said they will push for the institutionalization of the Yaman Awards to encourage more local MSMEs and companies to strive and perform better. “We will also implement measures to ensure that the needs of the MSME sector are properly addresses,” he said. Such move will focus on motivating and assisting local MSMEs to continue with their growth and expansions, he added. (MindaNews)

Port congestion blamed for import decline in June Imports fell for the second straight month in June

The country’s imports fell for the second straight month in June due in part to the congestion at Manila ports, the government said Tuesday, August 26. Data from the Philippine Statistics Authority showed imports fell 3.6% in June to $4.715 billion from P4.889 billion in the same month of 2013. In May, imports fell 4%.

The National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) said in a statement that lower shipments of capital goods pulled down imports and offset gains in other items. The PSA said 3 out of top 10 commodities imported in June posted declines. These were industrial machinery and equipment, electronic products, and “other food

Logistical issues result in additional cost

Replacing unreliable or incompetent officials CAGAYAN de Oro City–– Any barangay, municipality, or city that made a mistake in its choice of officials during the last elections can do something about it even now to weed out the unresponsive, the incompetent, or the unreliable. It’s a widespread problem that any citizen can do something about, doing our society a great favor. It just needs a recall initiative by a group of citizens. Recall of course is the legal process

of having an undesirable official relieved and replaced by the constituents for loss of confidence. In a democracy loss of confidence is a very serious matter, for it concerns the credibility, reliability, or competence of an official. Public confidence is essential for good governance. It is the most important aspect of public office, the basis for wielding power and authority. Any official who loses

the people’s confidence cannot govern properly or effectively; it will be big problem for him to decide or act on official matters. If he stays on without the people’s confidence or backing, or if he forces the issue, he will be stymied by legal challenges and outright non-cooperation, making his administration virtually inutile. It is why in advanced democracies resignation

The 7 points of publicity I just spent a couple of days with my daughter Robin at a conference that promised to teach people how to get their message in front of a million or more people. The conference was well done, and the presenter (Steve Harrison) one of the best and most knowledgeable that I know on his topic, Public Relations. However, I was amazed at the limited knowledge that some of the attendees seemed to have on the subject, even published authors. Maybe it’s because I’ve been studying marketing and publicity for years that it is surprising to me to discover that some concepts

More power!

Bob Bare - even basic ones - are not common sense to everyone. Yet, without publicity and marketing, you cannot possibly turn your products and services into profits; Marketing, being one of the

footstools of your business. Here are 7 points about Publicity that Steve covered that will be helpful for you to review: 1. Your media pitches and press releases should all include the five basics: Who ~ What ~ Where ~ When ~ Why 2. Do something interesting and news worthy. 3. Create a challenge that the media can take you up on. 4. Create a “hook” that will give an interesting ending to the phrase, “Coming Up……” (what would your ‘hook’ be here about yourself that would keep someone waiting until after the com-

mercials to hear the rest?) 5. Tie in your news release or pitch with a current event. 6. Share your personal story of overcoming a challenge. 7. Bust a myth that most people believe. Most importantly, answer this question for the media: Why should they care about what you have to say? Here is your action step this week: Answer this question as if a television producer was asking it to you: What is the positive outcome that my audience could receive from listening what you have to say during your interview?

Daily Inspiration Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.

-Philippians 4:6

Juvy Sarraga

Don’t Worry Do your best with the talents God has given you, and relinquish to Him the things over which you have no control. When you turn all of your worries to God, a sense of peace will set in. If you feel anxiety and worry building up in your thoughts, take a moment to ask your Heavenly Father to calm your fears. Remember to thank Him by acknowledging that He is the creator of this earth.

2015 Prezy lump sum budget includes P30-billion ‘profit guarantee’ for PPP investors

Independent research group IBON disclosed that among the lump sum funds under presidential discretion in the proposed P2.61trillion budget for 2105 is a P30-billion fund to guarantee the profits of investors participating in government’s centerpiece program Public-Private Partnership (PPP). IBON said that the item “Risk Management Program”, worth Php30 billion, is among those listed in the P123.06-billion Unprogrammed Appropriations for the next fiscal year. At more than 24% of the total, Risk Management Program is the second single largest item in the Unprogrammed Appropriations, behind the Php53.9-billion Equity Buy-out of the Metro Rail Transit Corp (MRTC). According to IBON, as a discretionary lump sum under the total control of President Benigno Aquino III, the Risk Management Program shows how the country’s scant public resources are not only being wasted and drained through corruption and political patronage but also through questionable economic policies that only benefit a favored few such as big business groups involved in PPP projects. Based on the National Expenditure Program (NEP) submitted by Malacañang for Congress approval, the

or relief from the position usually follows a vote declaring loss of confidence in the leader or his party. Without public support, there is no point in holding on to the office. ***** To ignore the issue or let it pass on the chance that it will go away will only worsen conditions in the community. It will encourage officials to think the people don’t really care, that there’s no penalty for being neglectful or even corrupt. They will take the community for granted. Before long, people will wake up to find that from simple neglect or inattention, the issue has grown into outright corruption that will be difficult to undo. That’s why the issue of trust must be confronted decisively and resolutely—and why constituents must be vigilant, attentive to community affairs, with special focus on its governing processes. Otherwise abuse will creep in, incubate corruption, and become virtually unmanageable. Preventing abuse and eradicating local corruption are best done by citizens of the community. They are the sovereign power,

Congress must scrutinize the Regulatory Risk Management fund and the individual PPP concession agreements being entered into by the Executive purpose of the Risk Management Program is to “manage the National Government’s fiscal risks and enhance the country’s credibility among potential PublicPrivate Partnership (PPP) proponents”. Executive agencies and departments as well as government-owned and controlled corporations (GOCCs) can avail of the funds to “cover commitments made by, and obligations of, the National Government, in the concession agreements relative to PPP projects”. Furthermore, according to the NEP, the amount shall be tapped to pay for all the obligations of a GOCC in concession agreement covered by a performance undertaking or any similar instrument issued by the National Government. A performance undertaking usually involves government assuming debt or other financial obligations related to a PPP project. Aside from performance undertaking, the P30-billion Risk Management Program

will also cover “contingent liabilities arising from regulatory risks assumed by the National Government”. IBON cited the P64.9billion LRT 1 extension and privatization, the largest PPP project that government has bid out so far, as among those with regulatory risk guarantees that will be covered by the Risk Management Program. Under its concession agreement with the winning bidder, if the notional LRT 1 fares stipulated in the contract are lower than actual or approved fares, government will pay the

the ultimate authority—the Boss, as P-Noy prefers to call them. Members of the community have every right to remove bad or unreliable officials. It’s why the law allows them to recall and replace officials without awaiting regular elections. It’s how they can rectify an error of judgment committed by the voters during the previous election. ***** The law tells us that elected officials have no business staying in office if they fail to live up to promises or assurances they make during their candidacy—and that removing and replacing them without awaiting regular elections is the way to secure the wellbeing of our community. Unfortunately, although this power is well enunciated in the law, we citizens seem reluctant or afraid to invoke it—perhaps out of fear of failure or, worse, fear of reprisals from powerful trapos or traditional politicians. That may be so but it is unbecoming for powerful sovereign citizens to be intimidated by their own public servants. Servants are supposed to serve in a manner satisfactory to their masters—a duty or obliga-

tion intoned in their oath of office and job description. If the officials are just inept or incompetent, all the more reason to remove them. The community shouldn’t be burdened with their salaries and benefits, letting them enjoy the perks of office, if they’re unreliable and undeserving of trust. Mere loss of confidence is a ground for recall. ***** To rid a barangay, town, or city of an unwanted or undesirable executive, a simple procedure is provided by the Local Government Code (R.A. 7160), Sections 69-75. It will enable the people to make up for the mistake of enthroning unsuitable officials, replacing them with better leaders. But it needs resolute citizens to launch the initiative; it won’t succeed if only a few support it because majority vote is needed. Otherwise even ordinary folks can take the lead if they have the will or determination to improve conditions in the community. They have but to assert their right to have officials they can rely upon. “Sovereignty resides in the people and all government authority emanates from them” (Article II, Section 1, Constitution). This provision needs to be inter-

private operator the difference through a so-called Deficit Payment Scheme. Notional fares refer to the adjusted fares as scheduled in the concession agreement. Such situation may arise, when, for example, a regulatory body or local court intervened and prevented the collection of the notional fare. The research group said that the Deficit Payment Scheme, a form of regulatory risk guarantee, which is an innovation of the Aquino administration to attract investors, assures private profits and the commercial viability of PPP projects at the expense of public interest. IBON urged Congress to look into the Regulatory Risk Management fund and scrutinize the individual PPP concession agreements being entered into by the Executive and determine whether or not they are disadvantageous to the public.

A performance undertaking usually involves government assuming debt or other financial obligations related to a PPP project.’ nalized by every Filipino, to invoke if the community’s welfare and its members’ right to good governance are an issue. It’s there to underscore the power of ordinary citizens. Remember Dagohoy and Gabriela Silang? They were ordinary barrio folks. Even Andres Bonifacio was an ordinary fellow from a neighborhood of Tondo in Manila. None of them had exalted titles—no rank, no shiny buttons on their shoulder or chest. They simply made bold to assert their sovereign right and power to demand good governance and justice. In the process, they sparked a great revolution. The question is, where today are the Filipinos who can spark reform and revolution? ••• Manny is former UNESCO regional director for Asia-Pacific; secretary-general, Southeast Asian Publishers Association; director, development academy of Philippines; member, Phil. Impeach raps could take ages to resolve

LIFE’S INSPIRATIONS: “…`whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be slave of all’…” (Jesus Christ, our God and Savior, in Mark 10:43-44, the Holy Bible). -oooIMPEACH RAPS COULD TAKE AGES TO RESOLVE: Now that the justice committee of the House of Representatives voted on August 26, 2014 to uphold the three impeachment complaints against President Aquino, what will happen next? Let’s see what the 1987 Constitution says about it. Article XI, Section 3, in its sub-sections 1 to 8, requires the justice committee to submit to the plenary a report of the voting which upheld the three impeachment complaints. within a period of sixty days. Sixty days from August 26, 2014 would be October 26, 2014. Assuming that the report would be submitted on October 26, 2014, it would then be calendared by the House within 10 session days from receipt thereof. Once the impeachment complaints reach the plenary, there is no time frame within which congressmen are to finish their deliberations. There is also no deadline within which their votes, whether to endorse the complaints to the Senate for trial or not, would have to be made. Indeed, only God knows how long the House will resolve these complaints. It can take ages, really! -oooPNOY MUST INSTILL GOOD MEDIA RELATIONS AMONG HIS MEN: Here are some thoughts from the past: “If I were President Benigno Aquino III, I will be greatly bothered by media’s increasing restlessness with the Malacanang team that has just been installed to help in running the affairs of the nation “To avert further deterioration of the President’s relationship with the press, he must tell Education Secretary Bro. Armin Luistro, for instance, to go easy as it were on blaming the media as being part of the problems confronting the Aquino administration, conscious as the President and everyone should be of the great help that media gave to project him while he was still `candidate Noynoy’. “The President should also make it a point to tell all incumbent Cabinet secretaries to be more patient and understanding of media, even if many of

Atty. Batas Mauricio its members are at times bellicose and too-insistent on getting the secretaries’ attention, pressured as they are for deadlines to report what is going on in this one week-old administration.” I wrote this on July 05, 2010. -oooPNOY & ALLIES MUST STUDY THE BIBLE: The following item, on the other hand, first appeared in this column on July 07, 2010: “Did Malacanang think that giving its Cabinet secretaries a one-day seminar on how to `handle’ media would already be sufficient to enable officials of the Aquino administration to have good relations with those working in newspapers and those in radio and TV? Of course not. “Having good relations with other people, whether from the media or not, is something that does not come from seminars, much less a one-day seminar. It comes from the natural goodness of the heart, the purposeful righteousness of the mind, and a decidedlygodly upbringing… “I suggest that what President Benigno Aquino III should now endeavor to do is to give some sort of a `continuing education’ to his secretaries...For starters, all officials of the land, from PNoy down to the lowliest employee of government, must read and re-read the admonition of Jesus Christ, contained in Mark 10:43-44 of the Holy Bible.” -oooPLEASE LISTEN: “Tambalang Batas at Somintac”, jointly aired at 1062 kHz in Manila, 1080 kHz in Dagupan City, 711 kHz in Naga City, 1260 kHz in Lucena City, 1224 kHz in Davao City, and at www.eaglenews.ph, Mondays to Fridays, at 6 a.m.; “Kakampi Mo Ang Batas”, at 103.7 mHz in Don Carlos, Bukidnon, Mondays to Fridays, at 7 a.m.; “Kakampi Mo Ang Batas” at 801 kHz on the AM band (Panay Island), Mondays to Fridays, at 10 a.m.; and “Kakampi Mo Ang Batas” at 107.5 Win FM, Roxas, Isabela (Saturday, 5:30 a.m., and Sunday, 7 a.m.).

Yamaha......

Congress......

Yamaha officials led by Mr. Kaoru Ogura, sales and marketing director for Philippines, described the XTZ125 as a lightweight, high performance bike that features smooth drivability, and reliability; an easy, safe, and comfortable ride with its compact body, stable full HT steel frame and engine guard. The SEROW 250, on the other hand, features excellent maneuverability suited for mountain trails. The bike also features a powerful torque, a fuel-injected engine, and an easy ride with a low-seat height. Accompanying Mr. Ogura were Mr. Ryan Jude Camus, marketing section manager, Ms. Maria Leinie Alambro, marketing and communications supervisor, and Mr. Peter Salvarico, Mindanao assistant manager. At the track race, guests were given the opportunity to test-ride the XTZ125, allowing riders to navigate through varying terrains, enjoying superior traction, handling, agility, and power -- making it best for off-road and even for the paved. Highlighting the Yamaha event was a motocross with several riders joining the challenge. It was a chance to see how the XTZ125 perform, and after the race and awarding of winners, everyone went home champions, having enjoyed the 29th Kadayawan MX and the showcase of Yamaha’s newest unit. Mr. Ogura said Yamaha XTZ125 is now available in Mindanao with a suggested retail price of Php81, 900 and the Serow250 will be offered in September with the suggested price of Php229,000. “The ride doesn’t get any more exciting than with these two units. Welcome to a new world, the Off-Road World,” he added. (With a report from YMPI)
