a versatile home choice

A

s a landmark condominium development in Cagayan de Oro City, many would consider The Loop as a versatile home choice that provides the best urban living experience. Whether homeowners are businesspeople, newlyweds, students, young families, retirees or emptynesters, The Loop offers them many advantages that they will find irresistible. The Loop is located within CDO’s central business district, the focal point of business, shopping, and recreational pursuits of Kagayanons and out-of-towners who visit the city for business or pleasure purposes. This two-tower, 25-storey condominium will rise along Rosario Crescent at the Limketkai Center, the main commercial and entertainment hub where malls, stores and shops, cinemas, arcades, supermarkets, banks, hotels, bars, and all types of restaurants are within walking distance.

With its central location, The Loop makes it convenient for businesspeople to go to work in the morning, attend a business meeting in a hotel, and even take clients out for dinner or drinks at day-end. Young families will find it a breeze to bring children to school, go out for meals, watch movies, or shop for clothes and groceries. Newlyweds will find it exciting to be within short distance of fine dining, high-end retail stores, coffee shops, and the best bars and pubs in town. Out-of-town students in CDO can take advantage of the proximity to a wide array of fast food chains, markets, terminals, and even ATMs in the area. All these conveniences may also attract retirees and empty-nesters alike who may find themselves within easy reach to enjoy recreational activities like watching movies, dining out, or pursuing other interests in their golden years, than wasting it out on long and tiring commutes around the metro.

It’s not only the location that makes The Loop an ideal place to live. Condo living at the Loop allows homeowners to have more time to enjoy life with their loved ones as security and maintenance are handled by a professional property management team. The Loop also offers deluxe facilities and amenities that give homeowners a well-balanced lifestyle: an adult swimming pool, kiddie pool, a fitness gym, and a multi-purpose function hall at The Canopy located at the building’s ground floor. At the roof deck is the Sky Gar-

den replete with a lounging area, adorned with live plants, offering unhampered views of the city and the mountain ranges of the region. The Loop is the first high-rise development of Vista Residences in Mindanao, the vertical marketing arm of the country’s largest homebuilder, Vista Land & Lifescapes. How to make dreams come true?

D

o you have a dream that you have been keeping for a long

time? Do you have the courage to pursue your dreams? What have you been doing to make it a reality? One of my biggest dream became true last year of 2013. Are you familiar with a person by the name of Nick Vujicic? Maybe the name is not familiar but when you watch this video, I am sure you will know who he is. My deep respect and admiration for him all started when I saw him on YouTube. Ever since, I was a strong fan and an avid follower, I sometimes use Nick Vujicic's videos to inspire people and to prove that no matter what happens in life, we should not make excuses. If a person without limbs---arms and legs--can make himself useful, how much more an ordinary person, with full use of his body? Because of his influence and inspiration, I've been praying that Nick Vujicic would come to the Philippines. Then came that fateful day when I was invited by Francis Kong to guest at his speaking engagement at SMX where I saw a banner of Nick coming. When I saw that banner announcing his visit to Manila, I was really excited to buy a ticket. I was willing to pay whatever it cost! A week after, I suddenly received a call from Becca Music. They asked to set an appointment because they wanted to invite me to be a part of the Nick Vujicic event. When they said that, it was a dream come true! Actually when they first invited me I told them, “Hmmmmmmm…. Let

me check my schedule if I'm available. Surely, I did not say that! I was just kidding.” I would move/ cancel all my schedules just to be present at Nick's event! Becca Music asked me to be part of the Nick Vujicic visit here in Manila. It means that I will speak as his front act for the May 20 event at Smart Araneta Coliseum. I was very excited! God is so good to grant me the opportunity. Even if I have been doing this for over 5 years, I just felt that this was very different from the past speaking engagements I had. In my past events, people came because they know that I was going to be the speaker. But this time, people came for Nick not me. They have high expectations and it was too difficult to fill in those big shoes of Nick. When the faithful day came and my name was called over 20,000 people flocked to Smart Araneta Coliseum. They were all excited like me; I was just as excited. Though I was doing the front act, I was also just a Nick Vujicic fan, raring to hear what he had to say. It was a privilege to be able to inspire so many people during my front

Cine Europa is back! Experience another spectacular cinematic fare as Cine Europa is back in Cagayan de Oro this coming November 13-16 at the Rodelsa Hall. 21 films from 16 countries are featured for this year. This is the sixth time that the premiere European film festival is being showcased in the city through the partnership of the Delegation of the European Union to the Philippines and Liceo de Cagayan University. The 4-day film fest is free to the public.

act. I talked about the power of our dreams. Do you have a dream? Maybe a dream house, car, or vacation. The problem with dreams is not because our dreams are too big and we can’t hit it. It is because we set our dreams too low and we hit it. It is actually not the lack of resources that’s keeping us from achieving our dreams, but our mindsets. We need to keep believing in our dream for it to become a reality. We should never let anyone steal our dreams---yes, I’m talking about your “nega” friends---and feed and grow our faith. Honestly, I didn’t think I would ever get to share the stage with Nick Vujicic, a world-famous motivational speaker. It was a dream. But look, it happened! THINGS THAT I LEARNED ABOUT MAKING YOUR DREAMS COME TRUE: YOU CANNOT JUST WANT IT BUT YOU GOT TO BELIEVE IT. Many people want to become rich but only a few believe that they can become rich. The difference successful and unsuccessful people is successful people believe while unsuccessful people just wish for it.

NEVER STOP BELIEVING No matter what happens never give up. It just takes time to make your dreams a reality. Success is not a one day event but it is a process. It just takes time! BELIEVE IN THE IMPOSSIBLE Sometimes our dreams are too big that we feel that it is too impossible. How can you pay off a big debt? How can you resurrect a dying business? How can you find the dream job you have been looking for? It maybe impossible to you but it is not impossible to God. For the God that we serve is the God of impossible. For me I was just believing God that He will grant me the opportunity to hear Nick live. But He granted me the impossible dream to share the stage with him. What about you, what’s your big dream? Do you still have pending dreams that are not yet answered? Keep on dreaming and keep on believing! Never give up! Believe in the impossible! Believe in God! I believe it is just a matter of time before it gets answered.

Koronadal City Mayor orders capture ‘dead or alive’ of suspects in daring holdup By Allen V. Estabillo

KORONADAL CITY - City Mayor Peter Miguel ordered police operatives to capture “dead or alive” the five other suspects in the daring robberyholdup of a pawnshop here Thursday noon that left two security guards dead. Miguel issued the directive after confirming the arrest of an alleged suspect identified as Jonel Elchico in a pursuit operation launched by joint police operatives in the outskirts of this city and nearby Tantangan town in South Cotabato. He said the suspect, who claimed to be a resident of Barangay Topland here, was nabbed by policemen in a sitio of Barangay New Lambunao in Tantangan at past 3 p.m. or about three hours after the holdup incident at the Agencia Brillantes pawnshop. The mayor said Elchico was moving suspiciously when first noticed by local residents and tried to flee when the policemen came. “He tried to run away so our policemen chased him. We’re not quite sure yet of his involvement

in the incident but flight is guilt and his movements as well as the way he answered our questions raised doubts about him,” he said in a radio interview. Miguel said the suspect is currently undergoing interrogation at the Koronadal City police station. “We hope that this will lead to the arrest of the other suspects,” the mayor added. Six armed men aboard three motorcycles initially stormed the Agencia Brillantes pawnshop located at a busy section of the main commercial district here at around 12:30 p.m. The pawnshop, which is adjacent to two shopping malls, is about two blocks away from the Koronadal City police station. Upon arrival, he said the suspects gunned down the pawnshop’s security guard identified as Joan Lazaga and held its employees at gunpoint. The suspects then took an undetermined amount of cash and assorted jewelry from the establishment, he said. While fleeing the scene, the gunmen shot pawnshop employee Noel Billora and two other responding security guards

-- Arlon Tamayo and Alfredo Pagarigan -- of nearby establishments. Two other persons identified as Mark Anthony dela Torre and Sheryl Mae Galagar were hit by stray bullets during a brief shootout with responding policemen. Supt. Nestor Salcedo, Koronadal City police chief, said the suspects, who were last seen proceeding towards the direction of Lutayan town in Sultan Kudarat, also hurled a grenade infront of the pawnshop but it did not explode. He said it was later detonated by responding personnel from the explosives ordnance disposal unit of the South Cotabato Provinvial Police Office. Lazaga and Tamayo, who are assigned at nearby Marbel Fit Mart department store (not Ace Centerpoint as earlier reported), were declared dead upon arrival at the South Cotabato provincial hospital. The city government has put up an initial P50,000 reward for any information that may lead to the identities and the whereabouts of the suspects. (PNA)

Army pursuing NPAs in North Cotabato mountains MAGPET, North Cotabato – The military here has deployed more troops and additional buffer force to contain abuses by communist guerrillas, an Army colonel Friday said. Colonel Nilo Vinluan, chief of the 57th Infantry Battalion, said a wounded New Peoples Army (NPA) commander is being kept by his men in the hinterlands of Magpet, North Cotabato. “That is why they have been massing in the area and while there they collect revolutionary taxes from farmers,” Vinluan said. Vinluan said his men are still pursuing about 100 NPA guerrillas in the borders of Magpet and Arakan, both in North Cotabato, known bailiwick of communist rebels operating near the country’s highest peak. Vinluan said the rebels were the same group who attacked in May the police headquarters in President Roxas, also in North Cotabato. “They are there, they are making noise, we will continue running after them,” Vinluan told reporters. Three policemen belong to the quick reaction team of the North Cotabato police office were hurt when a roadside bomb set off by NPAs in Barangay Bagumbayan, Magpet. The police were responding

to reports the NPAs are massing in Barangay Bagumbayan. A 30-minute fire fight ensued and the rebels fled to the hinterlands of Magpet. Meanwhile, police here released seven persons invited for questioning after they were sighted near the spot where a roadside bomb went off and wounded three policemen. Inspector Raelan Mamon, Magpet police chief, said the seven suspects were also seen close to the spot where suspected NPA rebels clashed with government forces in sitio (sub-village) Natutungan and Bagumbayan. The suspects, James Villareal, Ibrahim Bintayao, 48; Gloria Bintayao, 47; Jovannie Andaya, 23; Richard Icling, 39; Jesreal Andaya, 20; and Jerwin Andaya, 19 all residents of Purok Singko, Barangay Noa, Magpet, North Cotabato. Vinluan said they were invited, not arrested, to shed light on their suspicious presence in the area.Mamon said they were negative of powder burns. Police responded to reports that the NPA were forcing villagers to pay revolutionary taxes. Two bombs were set off by the guerrillas that wounded three cops. Vinluan and Mamon could not say whether the rebels also suffered fatalities. (PNA)

able city car through a variety of activities. The Brio Speed Challenge, a one-make race series has been held regularly at the Sentul International circuit with 14 racers participating. In addition, Brio Saturday Night Challenge, a driving skills race event has been held over 3 series in Jakarta and

Surabaya, and gathered a total of 227 owners of the Honda Brio. This model is often used by participants in the event as Slalom and Drag Race in various regions in Indonesia. “In just one year after its launch, Honda Brio has become one of the established models in the city car seg-

ment. Nevertheless we see there is still potential and customer demand in the City Car segment, particularly in the more affordable price segmentation,” said Tomoki Uchida, President Director of PT Honda Prospect Motor. “To provide the best products for customers in this segment,

we develop on Brio models by presenting new variants with more complete features at a more affordable price,” said Uchida. Jonfis Fandy, Marketing and After Sales Service Director PT HPM explains, “With new variants, Honda Brio will meet all the needs of a city
