He deploys April 14 for six months to serve as the senior chaplain at the Manas Transit Center in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. Last winter, he deployed for three months. “People just need someone to talk to about marriage problems, money problems, job problems,” he says. “That’s a big part of a chaplain’s ministry, formal and informal counseling.” Sproul says he was always fascinated with the military but also felt called to the ministry.
