With increased auditing and reporting requirements in today’s marketplace, accounting professionals are in high demand. Position yourself for a successful accounting career in any industry with the Master of Accounting program. You’ll be prepared to take the CPA exam upon graduation — and find rewarding jobs and leadership positions in public accounting, corporate accounting, financial services, government accounting and nonprofit accounting. Get the education required to become a licensed professional counselor (LPC), a licensed marriage and family therapist (LMFT), or both with the Master of Arts in Counseling program. The MAC program has built a strong reputation within the mental health community for producing exceptional counselors who demonstrate extraordinary knowledge, professionalism and commitment. You may choose to focus on working with children, adolescents, adults, families, couples or other populations. You’ll gain a deeper understanding of human behavior and learn techniques to foster the growth of clients through extensive, hands-on practicum experiences and innovative, timely electives built around high-interest topics. With this degree, you’ll be able to sit for the required exams and complete your post-master’s supervised work experience toward achieving your licensure. Our graduates have gone on to develop private practices and make a difference in such settings as hospitals, residential treatment centers, nonprofit agencies, government and for-profit organizations. MAC at a Glance • Faculty are a mix of counselors, therapists and psychologists, and most maintain private practices. • Choose to pursue coursework toward your LPC, an LMFT, or both. After sitting for the required state exams, you’ll achieve the post-graduate requirements to become licensed through 3,000 hours of post-master’s supervised work experience. • Develop your own counseling style as you explore and recognize the effects of your beliefs, values, experiences and behaviors on your practice. Learn to make ethical decisions in counseling situations and determine the best treatment options for clients. • Participate in guided field experiences in a wide variety of mental health organizations and nonprofits in Central Texas, such as Austin Recovery Center, Lifeworks, Safe Place and Seton Shoal Creek Hospital. Convenient Class Schedules Each class meets once a week for three hours. The program can be completed in its entirety with evening classes and additionally has some daytime classes available at our North Austin campus. With three semesters a year and two classes per semester, the MAC is typically completed in three years. Some students elect to pursue the program full time, taking three classes per semester and typically completing the program in two years. Master of Arts in Organization Development (MAOD) Lead positive change, in any workplace. Change is the only constant in today’s ultra-competitive business environment. The Master of Arts in Organization Development program prepares you to lead companies through transitions — as well as integrate and synthesize dynamic models of change. Career paths with this degree include change management consultants, human resource and labor specialists, mediators, and training and development professionals. MAOD at a Glance • Learn to master strategies for positive change, such as process improvements and employee education strategies. • Examine human systems theory, including why there is often so much resistance to change. Learn effective approaches to conflict resolution and develop ethical management skills. Develop yourself as a powerful change agent. • Add depth to your credentials with a final project that involves a change initiative — such as improving system efficiencies or group performance in a company or organization — and action research/implementation. Students take two seven-week classes each semester, with classes meeting on the same night for the duration of the program. This allows you to finish the MAOD in two years. Shaped by market demand, the accelerated Master of Science in Computer Information Systems prepares you to successfully manage rapidly changing technologies. You’ll gain the expertise you need to lead IT organizations across many industries and implement solutions to increase productivity and streamline technical processes. Career options cover a full spectrum of IT management roles, such as director of data security, computer network administrator or supervisor of IT staff in corporate and nonprofit settings, among others. MSCIS at a Glance • Learn to design a flexible and efficient infrastructure for any organization by integrating disparate technologies and computer platforms and networks. • Develop both a solid technical background and innovative business acumen in this multidisciplinary program. Master of Business Administration in Digital Media Management (DMBA) Increase your value. Join a high-demand industry. The MBA in Digital Media Management program at St. Edward’s has earned an international reputation for producing graduates who excel in organizations that understand the increasingly vital role of digital media management across a wide range of industries and its application to emerging and traditional businesses. You’ll be prepared to apply solid management and business decisions to all areas of the digital media industry, including music, TV, film and interactive gaming. This 10-day, hands-on learning experience gives you access to the latest digital media trends and industry contacts. In fact, several DMBA students have landed internships by networking at SXSW. • In your final course, you’ll team up with fellow students to conduct extensive research, analyze financial statements and complete a comprehensive marketing analysis and business plan for a multimedia enterprise … and make a formal presentation to students, faculty and executives. Past course projects have included CA Technologies, DMX, Roky Erickson, Sony BMG, Portalarium, Inc. and Mass Relevance. FULL-TIME, DAYTIME PROGRAM This unique full-time, daytime program is delivered in two seven-week sessions per semester, with three classes per session. Students also participate in a summer internship after their first year of studies. All classes meet on the main campus. Design your own course of graduate study — one that aligns with your life interests — with the Master of Liberal Arts degree. You’ll create a unique program of discovery that connects your passion and educational pursuits to a professional career or further postgraduate study. The MLA program aspires to develop creative and critical leaders — with a strong dedication to ethical and civic responsibilities, artistic sensibilities, spiritual interests and intellectual achievements. For this reason, St. Edward’s is a full member of the Association of Graduate Liberal Studies Programs, which requires institutions to demonstrate high standards, commitment to quality, and focus on the needs of adult students. The broad knowledge gained in the MLA program leads to work in a variety of fields, from social services and law to museum work or curriculum development. Some graduates advance their education in PhD programs. MLA at a Glance • Deepen your understanding of the human experience as you examine issues across a broad range of disciplines such as anthropology, English, psychology, history and global studies. • Supplement your studies with an optional internship. Master of Arts in College Student Development (MACSD) Help college students achieve their potential. Prepare to mentor college students and college-bound populations, helping them grow personally, professionally and academically with the Master of Arts in College Student Development program. You’ll learn to guide students among the multiple facets of higher education — gaining career flexibility to work in a variety of settings, including student life, residence life, advising and more. With this degree, you’ll be prepared for a position at any of the thousands of institutions of higher education across the U.S. and abroad. Career paths include positions as an academic advisor, career services counselor, orientation supervisor or residence life director. This program is also a stepping stone for a doctoral degree, the terminal degree and requirement for many administrative, executive and faculty positions. Today’s globally interdependent world needs leaders who can achieve solutions consistent with an organization’s mission and core values. The Master of Science in Organizational Leadership and Ethics prepares you to become an effective organizational decision-maker and assume a variety of leadership roles in the for-profit, nonprofit and government sectors. While varied in structure and mission, most organizations seek leaders who can motivate individuals and groups to work toward a common goal. MSOLE at a Glance • Examine what it means to be an ethical leader and how to promote those traits in others. • Learn ways to effectively represent an organization and its stakeholders. • Integrate and synthesize dynamic models of leadership, ethics and social responsibility with your own practical experience, as well as case studies and other methods. • Conclude your studies with a final research project related to leadership and ethics. The Professional Science Master’s in Environmental Management and Sustainability program prepares you to confront the increased use of natural resources and human activities that endanger our planet: urban sprawl, industrial pollution, severe land and soil degradation, and hazardous management practices. Wild Basin Creative Research Center By earning an MSEM degree, you’ll become both manager and scientist, using the principles of sustainable development to restore ecosystems and promote efficient land use. With your interdisciplinary skill set and international experience, you’ll be in demand. MSEM at a Glance • You’ll access premier international research facilities at Université Catholique de l’Ouest in Angers, France, which includes the Institut de Biologie et d’Écologie Appliquée (IBEA). With its strong expertise in the ecotoxicology and the aquatic ecosystems fields, IBEA is a leader, manager and adviser to many international programs. • You’ll take a broad range of courses in ecology and sustainable development, while building your business acumen with project management courses. • A hallmark of the MSEM program is a collaborative, hands-on internship. During your last semester in France or abroad, you’ll choose an issue related to sustainability and collaborate on a scientific project with a corporation, research institute or government agency.
