Hello – at last the summer is upon us and we can spread our wings into the gardens, flying high with Peter Pan, rejoicing in the music of The Shires and absorbing two of Shakespeare’s finest plays in his 400th anniversary year.

There is so much to enjoy with the long-awaited return of the Bracknell Festival, initially as a one-day event, but with plenty of ambition for the future – you can expect a great line-up this year, so book early.

There are lots of hits from the Edinburgh Festival for you to enjoy this season as well, from a hilarious parody of Jurassic Park (why not combine this with a trip to our beautiful cinema to remind yourself of the film beforehand?) to What Would Mr Spock Do? – a funny and poignant tale of a Star Trek fan.

He has played for the Humphrey Lyttelton band for almost twenty years. He deputises regularly with many of the big bands of today, including Paul Lacey’s Back to Basie Band, the Syd Lawrence Band, the Echoes of Ellington Band and others.

Jazz violin virtuoso Luluk Purwanto studied at the Arts Institute in Yogyakarta, and the Sydney Conservatorium. As a member of the Indonesian fusion band Bhaskara, she performed at the North Sea Jazz Festival in 1985. She lived in the Netherlands for many years, performing, recording and touring internationally with the René van Helsdingen Trio. Luluk is now based in Munich.

by Stig, a caveman. The pit is full of people’s dumped rubbish, which Stig uses to make his home. Barney and Stig become firm friends and manage without language as Stig speaks no English. They have a great time, improving Stig’s den, collecting firewood, going hunting, and even catching some burglars who break into Barney’s grandparents’ house.

It is nearly 50 years since Stig and Barney’s adventures first saw the light of day but this timeless children’s classic remains as charming and entertaining as ever.

Throughout this high-octane musical, set on Bobby’s 35th birthday, we meet Bobby’s five married sets of best friends, together with an ‘assortment’ of girlfriends, as he contemplates his unmarried life throughout a series of dinners, drinks and weddings.

The Jurassic coast is a place of memories and family connections that informs Tonia’s work. She has spent many hours observing the interaction between land and sea, gathering fossils and stones to use as inspiration. Her work is about connectedness to this place, the touch, texture and essence of it. There is a recurrence

of marks made and objects used that relate to collecting, to ideas of holding on and containment, grasping at the changing and eroding of the coast and of memories.

The land is fluid and inconstant, exposed to the weather and tide disrupting its surface – to reveal the history or memory held within it – Tonia Maddison Tonia graduated with her first degree from Surrey institute of Art & Design before attaining an MA in Fine Art from Winchester School of Art in 2009. She has exhibited widely in the UK and co-founded the artist co-op ReOrsa.

In association with the summer production of Peter Pan, South Hill Park’s Tall Hall welcomes Shipwreck by Jan Niedojadlo. Niedojadlo challenges the assumed and traditional notion of artistic engagement, inviting us to use a range of senses beyond our sight alone. The works are constructed from a variety of recycled materials, including foam, rubber and carpet and incorporate subtle effects of lighting, sound and smell. Often inspired by natural and biological forms, visitors are encouraged to enter the sculptures, to fully immerse themselves within these distinct ‘other worlds’ and experience the sights and sounds within.

Green Flag Award

South Hill Park is about seven minutes drive from Bracknell Town Centre in the Birch Hill area. Easily accessible from the M3 (Junction 3) and M4 (Junction 10). We are very well signposted – look for the brown road signs saying ‘Arts Centre’ or showing a comedy mask.

There is FREE but limited parking for 200 cars at South Hill Park.

Please note the car park fills up quickly on busy days and you may need to seek alternative parking.

Please follow signs for overflow parking at the Leppington car park which is a five-minute walk across our rear grounds.

South Hill Park is among a recordbreaking 1582 parks and green spaces that received a prestigious Green Flag Award 2015/16.

Together with Bracknell Town Council and Bracknell Forest Council who manage the grounds of South Hill Park, we are delighted to be celebrating the achievement of this award for the third year running.

Tickets, once purchased, cannot be refunded. If the show is sold out, we can try to resell your tickets for you. A £1 administration fee per ticket is charged. Resale cannot be guaranteed. This service is free to members.

An 80p admin fee is charged per transaction for bookings made with credit and debit cards in person and over the phone. Cheques are made payable to South Hill Park Trust Ltd. Online bookings are subject to a charge of £1.25 per booking – except current members who will not be charged the fee.

When booking a ticket, your details will be held on our database and you will be given the option of being sent information on future shows both at South Hill Park and by other arts promoters that we feel may be of interest to you. At this point please advise us should you not require either of these services.

A levy of up to £1 is included in the ticket price to go towards the SHP Development Fund.

Access

Reservations Reservations can be held for four days or until 48 hours prior to a performance. Reservations cannot be made on the day of the performance. Tickets not paid for within this time will be released.

We are unable to reserve tickets for near sell-out shows.

Special offers Please note that only one special offer or discount can be applied to each event.

Tickets and concessions Concessions are available to children, students, registered unemployed, registered disabled and those 63 years and above and when available are shown next to the event. Please bring proof of status.

We try to accommodate all visitors to the Art Centre facilities. There are disabled parking bays and ramped access to the premises allowing easy entry to the reception area.

There is lift access to the first floors in the main mansion and Theatre allowing people to visit the theatre bar and Bracknell Gallery. There are also adapted toilets equipped with emergency alarms. There may be restricted access to parts of the building due to its eighteenth-century listed status, however, every effort is being made to address this and we recommend pre-booking and we will assist you in any way possible.

Helpers accompanying people with disabilities are entitled to a complimentary ticket, please advise box office staff of any special requirements you have when making your booking. An infra-red hearing system has been installed in the Studio and Wilde theatres and a £5 deposit will be required.

For those who wish to pursue their own work in progress with guidance and feedback or explore different techniques with our artist in residence.

The focus will be on mark-making and linocut. You will explore a variety of marks that can be made with linocut and various ways of printmaking with colour.

Learn basic monotype, relief, intaglio and etching techniques to create your own unique prints.

You will familiarise yourself with the printmaking equipment and tools and how to use them safely and effectively.
