English as a Second Language An introduction to the Teaching of English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL), also known as Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL). The curriculum covers historical and contemporary methods for teaching ESL and examines the connections between research in Second Language Acquisition (SLA) and classroom practice. Emphasis on practical tools for helping ESL learners gain proficiency in English. Admission to this minor requires the completion of ENG1100, ENG1120, and ENG2110. It also enables the students to pursue further study of a topic of particular interest to them or to broaden their general knowledge of human history. Students must take the following courses to complete the minor in History: HIS3510 HIS3520 HIS3521 HIS3522 Options American History I: Pre-1877 American History II: Post-1877 The Reformation American Religious History Choose any two 3000+ HIS or POL courses 3 3 3 3 6 Humanities The minor in Humanities introduces students to the influential ideas of Western civilization. Students read great works of literature, history, philosophy, theology, and political theory and interact with them from a Christian perspective.
