The OU men’s basketball program is on probation until Nov. 9, 2014, for NCAA violations involving preferential treatment and extra benefits, affecting only one former men’s basketball student-athlete and one former assistant men’s basketball coach. The penalties include: public reprimand and censure; three (3) years probation until Nov. 9, 2014; vacation of wins in which student-athlete competed and modification of individual records; modifications to the institution’s records to reflect the same, including records of the head coach; notification to incoming men’s basketball student-athletes and alumni of the violation and penalties; financial penalty of $15,000; reduction in scholarships by one (1) for 2011-12; reduction in official visits by two (2) for 2011-12; reduction in recruiting person days by thirty (30) for 2011-12; and two-year Show Cause for former assistant coach.
