Sooner softball receives a big slice of the coverage the University of Oklahoma receives. Behind football and the basketball programs, softball and baseball are next on the food chain. The media attention reached a new level in 2013 when the Sooners spent most of the season as the No. 1 team in the country, won the Women’s College World Series title and were even nominated for an ESPY Award for Best Team (against the likes of the Miami Heat, Baltimore Ravens, Chicago Blackhawks, Alabama Football and the US Women’s Gymnastics Team), while Keilani Ricketts was up for Best Female College Athlete.
