SoDo NRZ Minutes May 20, 2014 – Hartford Public Library lower level classroom Present: C. Lowell, T. Dukes, M. Peralta, J. Howard, A. Katz, A. Ambrose, Ofc. M. Gorman, Ofc. G. Morgan, C. Sicbaldi, J. Palerma, J. Gordon, M. Moriarty, R. Zaleski

Police Report: In the past month, two burglaries occurred, one on 25 Lewis Street and the other on 350 Main St. On 350 Main St, $950 in cash was taken and there are no suspects.

In the last 30 days, 26 car break-­‐ins occurred. Two parties were arrested on 4/29 at 55 Trumbull St. The car break ins occurred mostly at night, around the Bushnell Park area.

A car was also stolen at 950 Main Street . The car was started and running by a valet and someone jumped in as it was running. The car was later recovered.

Overall Part 1 crimes are down 13%.

Reminder: the weekend of May 31, kicks off the summer concert series at the Meadows.

The annual meeting will take place on June 25 – location TBD and there will be a summer meeting hiatus; we will resume in September. Meeting is a week later than normal because of the Summer Solstice event in Bushnell Park.

Social Committee Update:

Progressive Dinner was successful.

There are possible changes for the upcoming year and suggestions are welcome

Communications update:

New Platform for newsletter has been successful and it has been well received. Discussion on items to include in future newsletters-­‐ maybe apartment listings or things to make it more of a neighborhood resource. Looking for content and / or speakers.

Don’t forget there is now a Facebook page for the group.

Strategic Committee:

Will need to revisit the strategic plan and mission statement.

Began Buckingham Square cleanup has begun, second work party scheduled for May 31.

Discussion:

Can the wooden streetlight poles be replaced with more historic looking streetlights?
