Love’s Labor’s Lost Sunday, August 11 • 5 – 6:30 PM The King of Navarre and three noblemen take an oath to devote their lives to scholarship for three years – without the company of women. When the Princess of France and three ladies-in- waiting arrive, passion and puns abound. Will the oath hold? Or will the men succumb to the game of love? In this screwball romantic comedy, Shakespeare takes wordplay and wit to dizzying heights. Dance at Socrates Presented in partnership with Norte Maar August 5 – 31, Performances: Saturdays • 3 – 4:30 PM (weather permitting) Hosted by Socrates, Norte Maar, renowned for their cross-disciplinary collaborative projects, presents a new choreographic residency and performance series, bringing New York-based choreographers and their dancers to the Park. Each week during the month of August, a new choreographer will be in residence creating new works on a site-specific stage. Visitors to the Park will witness the working process of these dance-makers and experience fully produced, cutting edge performance every Saturday. SkowheganPerforms Saturday, September 28 • 1 – 5 PM Occupying the entire Park, SkowheganPerforms invites Skowhegan School of Painting & Sculpture alumni to activate Socrates with an afternoon of performance. The site-specific works are interspersed throughout the Park’s field of public artworks, inspired by Socrates’ unique outdoor setting.
