Smart Girl Nation August 2011
Over the last seven months, Smart Girl Politics Action has brought you our online magazine written by great conservative women and with the help of a few of our Smart Guys. We feel this is an important piece of our mission that allows us to share the voice of conservative women from around the country.
In the early 80’s, when I was stationed at Misawa Air Base in Japan as a young Airman fresh out of technical training, I re- member seeing the words “Par- don Our Noise; It’s The Sound Of Freedom” painted on one of the hangars on the very active, and very noisy flight line. Did I find the seemingly non-stop sound of fighter jets taking off and flying overhead a little on the noisy side? Sure. But in all honesty, I loved it nonethe- less! It made me feel proud to be a member of the United States Air Force, assigned to a joint-service unit doing our part to keep liberty alive. Fast forward thirty years and those words still ring true as we gratefully keep our brothers and sisters serving in our Armed Forces in our thoughts and prayers. But it has also taken on new meaning. Just over one year ago, my good friend and gifted songwriter/musician, An- drew (BigDawg), and I decided we needed to create a place online for conservative artists to meet, collaborate on projects, share their creativity, and en- courage others to get engaged in preserving our precious freedom. On 3 August 2010, we launched BigDawg Music Mafia, a free social network for conservative artists and friends and we’re proud to say freedom has a new sound! Today we have 589 members/ artists sharing an unbelievable amount of talent ranging from singing/songwriting to painting, film making, writing/blogging, hosting radio shows, acting, and so much more. Thanks to the support of our incredible “key- board warrior” friends/fans and our BigDawg Brigade members: internet and terrestrial radio talk show hosts, bloggers, and con- servative sites including heavy hitters BigHollywood and Smart Girl Politics (this being our debut Smart Girl Nation piece - special thanks to Stacy Mott and Teri Christoph for giving us this opportunity), we are attract- ing daily visitors from around the globe (including the North Pole!) with an ever-increasing daily average (currently at 2500 - 3000) putting us over the half- million hits milestone a couple weeks ago. So what’s all the buzz about? Why are more and more visitors dropping by to check us out and why are more and more people joining us every day? In ad- dition to the fact that we have such great talent at the site, we believe it is because we proudly tout that we are a conserva- tive (“liberal-free”) arts site in spite of some well-intentioned friends/fans advising us to strictly focus on the artists and to keep the “conservative” part out of the equation. That would be missing the point. Those who have joined are unapolo- getically using their God-given talents to promote the message of freedom.
