Media Policies

T

he Southeastern Louisiana University Athletic Department wishes to thank you for your interest and coverage of Lions baseball in 2010. This media guide is designed as a primary source of information on the Lions. However, please feel free to contact the Sports Information Office for any additional information.

CREDENTIALS Single-game credentials will be issued on a case-by-case basis due to the lack of seating in the Alumni Field press box. All requests for single-game credentials must be made by 10 a.m. on the morning prior to the game. Requests will be accepted only via fax or e-mail. Faxes must be on company letterhead to be considered for a credential. NO CREDENTIALS WILL BE MAILED! All credentials will be available for pickup at will call window at Alumni Field, located in the right field corner. For road games, please contact Matt Sullivan as soon as possible (preferably by Monday at noon the week of the game) to be included on the Lions’ pass list. Your credentials will be available at will call of the home team’s park.

PRESS SERVICES All media members will be provided with starting lineups, game notes, updated conference notes and updated statistics no later than 30 minutes prior to the first pitch. Phone lines will also be available to media members, as well as fax service. Media members wishing to be part of the Lions’ baseball email list should send Matt Sullivan (rsullivan@ selu.edu) their information. Members on that list will receive all releases on Southeastern baseball as well as box scores, recaps and updated statistics after each game. The press box is a working area, and in accordance with policies set forth by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association, cheering for either team will not be tolerated.

Player interviews will generally be conducted before or after practice. All interview requests must be made to Matt Sullivan no later than 10 a.m. the morning of the interview. Pre- and post-practice interviews will take place at Alumni Field. Phone interviews can be arranged if the media member provides a call-back phone number. Player phone numbers will not be released to the media and public to ensure privacy. The Southeastern clubhouse is off-limits to all interviews. Practices at Alumni Field are open. Media members and fans are asked to sit in the grandstand and stay off of the field.

POST-GAME INTERVIEWS Following a team meeting in the outfield, Southeastern players will be available in front of the Lions’ dugout, and then head coach Jay Artigues will meet with all interested media in the dugout. The above procedure will be followed by Southeastern for all games, home and away. At Alumni Field, the visiting coach and players will be available in front of the first base dugout.

DIRECTIONS TO ALUMNI FIELD From Baton Rouge (I-12 East) Exit I-12 at I-55 North (Exit 38B). On I-55, take the University Avenue exit (Exit #32/LA 3234) and bear right. Follow University Avenue into campus and take a right at the red light

PARKING There is no reserved parking at Alumni Field. Plenty of parking is available in the lots behind the right field fence and the adjacent parking garage next to Strawberry Stadium.

WEEKDAY INTERVIEWS Coach Jay Artigues and his staff are available for interviews every morning from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m., unless special circumstances

at General Pershing (the second light after you get off the interstate). Alumni Field will be on your left at the corner of North General Pershing and W. Dakota Streets. Turn left on W. Dakota and pull into the parking lot between the right field fence and the Dugas Center for Southeastern Athletics. From Mississippi (I-55 South) Exit I-55 at University Avenue (Exit 32/LA 3234). Turn left and cross back over the interstate, and from that point, follow the above directions. From New Orleans (I-55 North) Exit I-55 at University Avenue (Exit 32/LA 3234), follow the same directions as from Baton Rouge. From Slidell (I-12 West) Exit I-12 at US 51 Business (Exit 40). Bear right off of the exit and follow Railroad Avenue through downtown Hammond. Turn left on W. Dakota Street (near the tennis courts) and follow Dakota into the Southeastern campus. Pull into the parking lot behind the right field fence on your right after you pass the Dugas Center for Southeastern Athletics.
