“Theatre…the greatest of all art forms, the most immediate way in which a human being can share with another the sense of what it is to be a human being.” —Oscar Wilde

Welcome to our 69th Season! Nothing can ever completely replace the thrill of live experience. The feeling that you are there, in person, making contact and sharing each moment with a group of strangers; each audience is a new community, joined together by their desire to gasp, cry, laugh, scowl, and investigate the intricacies of our human experience. That is the power of live theatre; a living moment that is gone forever the instant it is shared. Since 1947, the Little Theatre has been bringing extraordinary stories to the Central Coast; over 700 plays in the last 68 years. We believe that the live theatre experience brings richness and texture into the life of a community, and we take our responsibility to create these experiences very seriously. Our 69th season is a perfect example of this: 23 plays, nearly 200 performances on 43 weeks throughout the year. Our mainstage subscription season features six award-winning plays and has something for absolutely everyone. We know that our audiences are curious, insightful, and ready to experience everything that live theatre has to offer. We have so much to share with you this year and we can’t wait to get started. Join us as a subscriber and don’t miss a moment of the journey!

I Am My Own Wife

About Ubu’s Other Shoe

by Doug Wright

Our staged reading series is named after the infamous trilogy of plays written by Alfred Jarry that were banned from the stage after riots erupted on opening night. Ubu's Other Shoe pays homage to the spirit of Jarry and to all artists who strive to explore the fringes of their art. This exciting series exists to offer actors, directors and audience members an opportunity to experience incredible plays that do not necessarily fit into our regular main stage season. Thank you for taking this journey with us.

March 18–19, 2016 “A truly remarkable experience in the theatre, I Am My Own Wife is a mustsee…An experience that is intellectual, theatrical, funny, and poignant. The integrity of his writing provokes us to think, it teaches us a history we never knew we had, and without forgiveness and sentiment unravels the story of one life.” —NYTheatre.com
