1981 Tournament The unheralded Hawks stunned the nation's No. 1 team, DePaul, in an NCAA Second Round game on a layup at the buzzer by senior John Smith. SJU would lose to eventual National Champion Indiana on the Hoosiers' home court, but not before launching head coach Jim Lynam to his own NBA career.
