Although never an official staff member, Diane has been a member of the Jimmy Beans family since the beginning. From helping us pick out which yarns we should carry in our shop to answering the JBW help hotline, she’s been an integral part of the business. We didn’t have to ask Diane twice to create a design for this book to help us raise awareness of heart disease. Diane’s mother suffered from a rheumatic heart and had a pacemaker for over 20 years, and Diane knows just how much of a difference diet and exercise can make in maintaining one’s quality of life. Diane herself has a heart murmur, which isn’t a big deal, she tells us, but she makes an effort to visit her doctor regularly to ensure she is in tip-top shape for knitting, designing, and playing with her pups and grandkids!

❤ DIANE’S TIP WHEN DIANE GOES OUT TO EAT, she likes to make healthy choices by selecting foods cooked in heart-healthy ways. She suggests looking for terms such as broiled, baked, roasted, poached, or lightly sautéed.
