Ballet & Jazz Dance Level 1
Pom Pom Dance is great exercise, helps eye-hand coordination and increases flexibility. Students learn basic jazz/hip-hop techniques and exciting arm/hand movements to today’s kidfriendly pop music. Each class begins with a warm-up and stretching section to improve flexibility and cardiovascular endurance. Over the course of the session, students will learn a full routine which involves multiple formation changes as well as visually effective arm movements that are enhanced with the use of pompoms/props. Pom Pom Dance is often confused with cheerleading; although many moves are similar, pom pom routines are set to music and do not involve vocal cheering as cheerleading does. Pom Pom Dance does not include mounts, gymnastics or tumbling. This competition free performing class allows your child to make new friends, become a part of a team and learn a fun, energetic pom pom style of dance! Clothing: Jazz or flexible tennis shoes, leotard or tank top, dance shorts or dance pants.
This class introduces students to fundamental ballet technique, vocabulary, exercises at the barre, stretching and center floor work. Students will also learn basic jazz dance steps such as jazz squares, chasses, kick ball change, and jazz pirouettes. This class will foster coordination, flexibility, creativity, and the joy of dancing. Price includes recital and costume fee for Dancer’s Showcase Recital May 18th.

In this class, the steps and ballet terminology become more challenging, but it is not too late to sign up as a beginner! Classes include ballet barre technique, center floor work, and many across the floor combinations that include jazz dance steps. This class is of shorter length and scheduled so that it can be taken after Ballet/Jazz Level 1, or before Ballet/ Jazz Level 2 for students who are interested in adding Tap to their weekly dance lessons. This class can also be taken independently if the student is only interested in Tap dancing. This class teaches rhythm, coordination and an introduction to basic tap fundamentals and terminology. As students progress they will learn to refine their tap skills and master more intricate footwork. This class is designed to accommodate a wide variety of skill level.
