Untuk tingkat SMA, jumlah sekolah negeri 20 sekolah dengan jumlah guru 738 orang dan rasio murid terhadap guru sebesar 13,68 sedangkan jumlah sekolah swasta sebanyak 31 sekolah dengan jumlah guru hanya 671 orang dan rasio murid terhadap guru sebesar 8,58. Untuk tingkat SMK negeri hanya ada 4 yakni di kecamatan Raya, Jorlang Hataran, Siantar dan Bandar Masilam dengan jumlah guru 126 orang dan murid sebanyak 1.721 orang sementara SMK swasta jumlah sekolah mencapai 35 sekolah dan guru 818 orang dengan murid sebanyak 9.892 orang.
