A very warm greeting from us all. For the ones we haven’t talked to recently we wish and pray for you a happy, but above all a blessed new year.

Looking back

Vacation It’s full summer at the moment in Peru; that means also for the schools summer holiday. The ministry is also ‘down’ for a month. It’s so nice to have some extra time for the family; chores in the house and to do stuff which you normally don’t have the time for when we run the program.

Fin ances We praise God for His provision every day in the last year.

The last year as Shailoh foundation we have received 48.940,30euros, divided over: Jordi and Ria: € 26,363.47 Schooling project: € 5,201.15 Vargas family: € 3,511.50 Brazos Abiertos: € 13,774.18 Additional: € 90.00

Looking back on last year lots of stuff happened. In February we arrived here to serve God and we didn’t know exactly where we would ‘end up’. Looking and praying we were led to Estrellita, where we set up the ministry Brazos Abiertos. The community lend us a piece of land, which now has our recently constructed prevention center on it. Jessica, a girl from the United States, has blessed us with her service our first year and said goodbye to us in December to continue working for a ministry in Colombia. Meanwhile we have been blessed by 2 Peruvian ladies helping us out once or twice a week. Also the parents help out with practical chores like cleaning.

Points of gratitude : For the beautiful things we encountered the last year; for His protection every day and for all the support that we were allowed to receive. Prayer points: For guidance and wisdom in everything we encounter, for our family (Jordi suffers a double hernia, the kids who switch school for the 4th time, the sometimes lonely existence of a missionary) and for new volunteers. For our financial situation; We are going through the valley at the moment.

We are looking for enthusiastic people who would like to lend a hand (or two). Interested? Send us an email at jordi.ria@gmail.com

Kids news Timo I am so super happy becausewe have summer break from school. I’m not going back to my old

school ‘ELIEL’, but will change to a new school where they talk a lot of English. I had to do an exam for this school and did that well. Half of it was in English and the other half in Spanish. I play a lot with Joah and also like to go to my swim class. Swimming is the best thing there is. Timo: ‘dad, how did God make men?’ Joah I have vacation, which I like a lot you know. I play a lot with my construction cars in the sand and

the stones. BecauseLima lies in the desert, I always find a place to work. I carry my bag with construction cars always with me. It’s almost my birthday, but first grandpa and grandma will come. The most funny word Timo and I find is the word ‘calzoncilla’ (underpants). We always laugh when we hear that word and put them on our heads. With that we dance and jump around. I start to learn to pronounce ‘sch’( start of many dutch words) which is a bit difficult for me.

Hanna Elena

I’m a well fed dutch girl in Peru. For abour a week a can stand up and climb stairs. On my bottom I slide through the house and hit on doors so somebody can open it for me. I really like to be outside. My brothers are the best. I call them Joja and I always know how to find them. Unfortunately they bring me often back to mom and am not allowed to play with them. The thing I like most is to ride in front of mommy’s bike to the ‘mercado’ (market). There they call me Hannieta and give me little bananas.
