olunteer coach Scott Johnson begins his fifth season at UAA in 2012-13 with a focus on the Seawolf goalies. The Bloomington, Minn., native is a former goaltending coach for Wasilla’s Alaska Avalanche (NAHL), where he tutored current Seawolf Dusan Sidor. Johnson is also a former Northwest Regional Manager for Goaltender Development Institute and is now President of Pacific Northwest Goaltending where he oversees the entire goaltender training operation and instructs individual, team, association, clinic and camp curriculums. He is also the USA Hockey Alaska Region goaltender coaching chief. The 1977 graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School attended Minnesota Duluth but did not play due to major knee surgery. Johnson, who lives with his wife Julie, was a NHL Off-Ice Official for the Minnesota North Stars from 1981-93 and is still involved with NHL Diversity programs nationwide.

KEVIN LECHTENBERG Athletic Trainer

K

evin Lechten­berg is in his 15th year as the assistant athletic trainer at UAA. He serves as the primary trainer for the Seawolf hockey team. Lechtenberg came to UAA from the Excel Physical & Occupational Ther­­­apy Clinic in Colorado Springs, Colo., where he worked until 1996. While at Excel, he served as the athletic trainer at Sierra High School. He served as a graduate assistant athletic trainer at the University of Denver from 1994-96, working with the men’s basketball, lacrosse and ice hockey teams and the women’s volleyball program. He earned a master’s degree in management from DU in 1996. A 1994 graduate of the University of Iowa with a degree in exercise science, he was a student trainer in the Hawkeye Sports Medicine program, working with all 22 sports, including the Hawkeye football team and NCAA champion wrestling squad. He is a member of the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA) and the Na­tion­al Strength and Conditioning Assoc­ia­tion. Lechtenberg and his wife Yasmin live in Eagle River with their son. She is a physical therapist at Anchor­age Fracture and Orthopedic Clinic.

PATRICK ROBERTSON Head Equipment Manager

E

ntering his eighth year as the head equipment manager for the UAA hockey team is Patrick Robertson — UAA’s longest-serving equipment manager. Born and raised in Anchorage, Robertson played one season of collegiate soccer at Southwestern Oregon Community College in Coos Bay, Ore. A 2000 graduate of Anchorage’s West High School, Robertson earned four letters in swimming and three in soccer. He also participated on the Eagles’ hockey team for three seasons. Robertson was the manager for Play-It-Again Sports in Anchorage prior to being hired at UAA. Robertson currently lives in Anchorage with his wife Jenifer and daughters Jayleigh and Lily.

ADAM FRIESE Strength & Conditioning Coach

A

dam Friese returns to the UAA coaching staff for a second season as the strength and conditioning coach in 2012-13. Currently, Friese is a personal trainer at The Alaska Club after working for a year and a half at the sports specific gym, Acceleration Alaska. Prior to his professional career, Friese was a member of the junior A hockey team, the Alaska Avalanche, and attended UAA on an academic scholarship. A local of St. Louis Park, Minn., Friese has spent 20 years in Alaska and graduated from Wasilla High School in 2008, where he was a four-year letterwinner in both hockey and soccer. His class valedictorian, Friese was voted the Mat-Su Valley Student Athlete of the year in 2008.

PETER CARTWRIGHT Video Coordinator

F

ormer UAA Seawolf Peter Cartwright begins his first full season as the Seawolves’ video coordinator after taking over the position in January of 2012. A four-year letterwinner for the Seawolves from 2004-07, Cartwright began his UAA career as a walk-on before being selected as assistant captain for his senior season. Throughout his career with the Seawolves, Cartwright produced 14 goals and 28 assists for 42 points in 125 games. A local of Anchorage, Cartwright went on to play with the Newcastle North Stars, Dundee Stars, Groningen Grizzlies and the Arizona Sundogs after graduation. Cartwright currently coaches the Bantam AAA All-Stars.
