School of Art + Design Student Portfolio Fall 2013
At more than any other time in human history, the education of the whole person has become critically important, requiring not only a new vocabulary, but a more extended vernacular. In an age where technology challenges all of us on a daily basis to renew our most essential skills, relationships and perceptions, society needs artists, philosophers and scientists who can navigate across this changing landscape. Educating leaders to participate in this exciting era of cross-disciplinary exploration is a fundamental goal in our pedagogy. Within this portfolio are projects created by the students enrolled at SDSU in the School of Art + Design during the fall 2013 semester. Guided by their instructors, these projects demonstrate not only mastery in a particular academic program, craft or trade, but also an understanding of the world’s logic, theories and history in the context of a larger, more complex and demanding dynamic.
