Yes! Our cookie supplier, ABC Bakers/Interbake Foods, is delighted to announce that they are official members of the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO). They source their palm oil exclusively from members of the RSPO and support the efforts of the RSPO to encourage sustainable farming practices. Starting in 2012, they began incorporating mass balance sustainable palm oil into Girl Scout cookies.
Do Girl Scout Cookies contain slave chocolate?
No! The Girl Scout Organization and our bakers do NOT use slave chocolate. Our cocoa is purchased from a supplier that’s a member of the Rain Forest Alliance (http://rainforest-alliance.org/ <http://rainforest-alliance.org/> ), which is an organization that addresses both environmental and labor issues. The cocoa can come from either Malaysia or West Africa.
