Americana

What traditions and customs define our national character? What cultural forms have survived over the decades and remain relatively pure and relevant? In this issue we will examine the state of Americana and explore what is classically American-in art, culture and music. Americana has often been defined by young people gathering together to create community and find a voice within society. We will approach the subject through the people and places that are living examples of Americana today, as well as find the source material and surviving relics of past eras. We will also examine the latest permutations of Americana's rich cauldron of cultural influences, many of which have now reached far beyond our borders.
