HOW SANTERRA GREEN WORKS Santerra Green Systems are the most advanced composting toilet systems available today. A patented Automatic Six-Way Aeration™ process is what differentiates Santerra Green from others. In short, this process speeds up the composting and evaporation process significantly through forced-air, heat and natural microbe-action. And, unlike others, there is no drum to manually turn.

COMPOSTING

Air enters the Santerra Green Composting Unit through louvered Service Panel (flush systems) or Bowl (waterless systems) because of negative pressure present in the unit created by dual fans. The outside air is drawn by the Blower Fan towards back of unit and is forced through the thermostatically controlled Heater (conveniently located in the easy-to-access Works-in-a-Drawer™ Box). The heated air is then forced down the Blower Pipe by the powerful Blower Fan to the Tray area in the bottom of the unit. The heated air is then forced back up by the powerful Vent Fan. This creates the patented Sancor Automatic Six-Way Aeration™ process as the heated air travels through all 6 sides of the waste/compost material (bottom, top and four sides) of the specially designed Aeration Basket. This process allows for maximum aeration for rapid evaporation and compost-action. Rapid evaporation of liquids occurs as the result of a powerful dual-fan system that exhausts the evaporated liquids up the Venting System until it exits the System completely through the Wind Turbine Ventilator (included with all Systems). The remaining solid material (85-90%) is left in a warm and well-aerated environment, ideal for composting. Additives (peat moss, Compost Accelerator, our special compost mixes) help the natural microbe-action further to speed up the composting process.

Santerra Green Composting Toilet Systems operate in much the same was a “regular” toilet does. The most important thing is to add some “good bacteria” to assist the natural microbe-action. Add Sancor Daily Mix and Weekly Mix (or peat moss). Then pull the Aerator (top) bar a few times a week. Toilet paper can be used but we recommend using 1-ply toilet tissue.

When it comes time to empty your system you simply rake the compost down, open the sealed bottom panel and remove the collection tray. Systems are generally emptied 1-2 times a year at the beginning of each new season (part-time cottage use) or about halfway through the year (full-time use).

ANSI/NSF-41 is a wastewater technology standard that was created by the National Sanitation Foundation (NSF) in the United States. It is designed to: • Test the quality of the system “end-product” (i.e., compost) • Ensure that there is no odor • Test various other product design elements (e.g., product strength, liquid containment, etc.) As a Canadian company we chose to have our testing, to the exact standard, performed by the well-known and respected Canadian Standards Association (CSA). As a Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL), CSA can certify to any other NRTL standards by others including NSF, UL, etc. Our other Electric and Plumbing certifications were also completed by CSA. WINTER USE

FOR THOSE COLD WINTERS Santerra Green systems can be used during winter, cold or freezing conditions if proper winterizing precautions are taken. BASIC WINTER TIPS • Waterless models (X SERIES & Y SERIES) are easier to winterize as there is less concern with freezing because water is not used to flush. Proper wintering is still required. • Ceramic toilets (Z SERIES & V SERIES) need to be wiped dry to prevent winter damage. • A special Winter Kit (heat cable, insulation, etc.) is available for V SERIES models to ensure entire winter season use.
