Sun employees help cancer patients Sun Cellular employees gathered to donate blood to Pediatric Cancer Patients of the Philippine Children’s Medical Center in the spirit of the Christmas Season. Sun Cellular’s Vice President for Product Development and ValueAdded Service Marketing Francisco Arana III led the over 100 employees who took time to join the cause. “This is a perfect way of celebrating the yuletide season. It is Christmas time and we are glad that we did not limit ourselves to the usual exchange gifts and merry-making amongst our co-employees as we have decided to help young patients with their struggle through this blood donation drive,” Arana says. Apart from Arana, other Sun Cellular executives also rolled-up their sleeves to lead their respective divisions in joining in the noble cause. The PCMC has dozens of patients currently being treated by their pediatric cancer unit. Most of the patients, who are even as young as a newborn, are afflicted with leukemia, and need regular blood transfusion. “This is the second time that Sun employees donated to our bloodbank, and surely this is the perfect Christmas gift to children who really are in need of transfusion. We are happy with the turn-out. This donation will go a long way,” says Dr. Jason Silva of the Pathology Department of the PCMC. “This is another good Christmas tradition that us employees can start, and certainly, this is in line with our battlecry of giving over and beyond the excellent service that we aim for. Just as we concern ourselves in rallying our employees to work hand-in-hand in providing best value communication services, efforts should also be exerted in encouraging employees to band together for a worthy cause, especially during the Holiday season” says Reuben S.J. Pangan, Vice-President for Customer Relationship Management of Sun Cellular. Sun Cellular is a member of the PLDT Group.
