Ash Wednesday Mass Starts Lenten Season Students, faculty and staff began the Lenten season with an Ash Wednesday Mass and the receiving of ashes. This time of spiritual reflection and sacrifice leads us all to the holy celebration of

Easter. Celebrant was the Rev. Martin J. Connell, SJ, rector of the Cleveland Jesuit Community. "The best analogy to our Catholic commitment to

Lent is to think about a three-legged stool," shared CORE Ministry teacher Mrs. Cathy Lanning Knittel '67. "Each leg represents an important component of our preparation for Easter. One leg is prayer, one is alms-giving and one is fasting. If any of these components is missing, the stool will collapse, or at least become unsteady."

Parents, Will You Help with This Challenge? As SJA parents, we know that you realize how vital it is in today's challenging world that your children receive an education in a faith-filled, empowering and nurturing environment. You can help continue the mission of Saint Joseph Academy. A generous benefactor has offered us $25,000 to mount the third annual Parent Participation Challenge. Like last year, parents are being challenged to make a minimum gift of $25 to the Annual Fund in gratitude for the opportunities being provided at the Academy for their daughters. If at least 25 percent of our current parents make a commitment, the Academy will receive $25,000 to support our incredible students. We met this challenge last year, so we know that Saint Joseph Academy parents are an amazing group of people. We see the proof in your daughters each day. Please support the challenge today by clicking here.
