CELEBRATING A NEW SEASON
Austrian Ambassador Dr Walter Hagg on the evening’s programme
PRICELESS MELODIES PRAISING PRECIOUS METALS IN LEHÁR’S INFECTIOUSLY SPARKLING GOLD AND SILVER WALTZ PROVE THE PERFECT CURTAIN RAISER FOR OUR NEW SEASON, opening under Principal Conductor Alan Buribayev. The mood of Viennese gaiety and glitter continues with a suite of glorious music from Richard Strauss’ seductive ‘comedy for music’ Der Rosenkavalier, and the sardonic, waltz-like rapture of Ravel’s La valse. And Associate Artist Finghin Collins returns to his distinguished survey of Mozart’s piano concertos with the brilliantly amiable and suitably celebratory ‘Coronation’ Concerto.
