Route 66 DinerBetter Than Ever
Produced & Printed In The USA • Keeping You On The Mother Road • 2012-2013
ALBUQUERQUE
By Sue Bohannan Anyone walking into the rebuilt Route 66 at 1405 Central Avenue NE. now officially designated Historic Route 66 in Albuquerque, N.M. will find it reassuringly the same. The atmosphere, from the black & white floor tile with a built-in hop scotch game, to the hot pink & florescent turquoise décor accents reflects the 50;s era. The daily blue plate specials & antique route 66 signs along the wall map the Mother Road convince the hungry diner that the jukebox has hardly skipped a beat. It’s déjà vu of a bygone rendezvous favorite. “We tried to authentic as we could be to what we were before.” Says Tom Willis, owner and partner when asked about the rebuilding tasks. “The same but better. We did some upgrades in the construction and now business is better than ever.
