Prior to the game, RMU will honor 12 seniors that helped the Colonials claim a share of the 2010 Northeast Conference regular-season championship and the league’s inaugural bid to the NCAA Football Championship (FCS) Playoffs. Robert Morris is coming off a 31-24 setback @ Central Connecticut State (11/5), its fourth straight loss. Against the Blue Devils freshman quarterback Matt Layman replaced injured starter Jeff Sinclair in the second quarter and finished 12-for-16 passing for 163 yards, two touchdowns and an interception. Layman, who completed a 14-yard touchdown pass to senior wide receiver Jamie Cobb and a 27-yard strike to senior tight end Paul Evans against CCSU, will make his first career start Saturday against the Seahawks. 2011 Robert Morris Football Game Notes vs. Wagner (11/12/11) - Page 3

Head Coach Joe Walton 18th Season - Pittsburgh ’57 At the forefront of the football renaissance at Robert Morris University throughout its 18-year history is Joe Walton, who has built the Colonials from a fledgling program into one of the top Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) teams in the region. The one constant associated with the program, Walton was named the first head coach July 27, 1993. He started the program from scratch, completing everything from hiring assistant coaches to purchasing equipment to recruiting student-athletes for the team’s inaugural season in 1994. Walton’s fingerprints are all over the football program, and to prove that, RMU has played its home games since 2005 in a stadium that bears his name. During his tenure, Walton has led Robert Morris to the first Northeast Conference championship in 1996, guided RMU to a perfect 10-0 season in 2000 and in 2010 helped lead the Colonials to the NEC’s inaugural bid to the NCAA FCS Playoffs with their league-high sixth regular-season championship. “It’s hard to believe,” Walton speaks on how fast time has elapsed. “I’ve said this many times before, and I mean it when I say that this situation is one of the best things that has ever happened to me in my life. It happened at the right time. Before this position became available, I felt I was too young to quit coaching, but I wasn’t anxious to get back into pro football. When this came along, it was the perfect fit. This situation was the perfect opportunity for me to continue to do what I like to do, and I’ve loved every minute of it.” Under Walton’s tutelage, the Colonials have claimed outright NEC regular-season titles three times (1997, 1999, 2000) while sharing three others (1996, 1998, 2010). Walton led Robert Morris to back-to-back ECAC Bowl victories in 1996 and 1997, and in 1999 and 2000 he guided RMU to a pair of NCAA I-AA mid-major national crowns according to Don Hansen’s National Weekly Football Gazette. In 2010, Walton added to his legacy by engineering the Colonials on an eightgame winning streak for a share of the NEC regular-season title and the NEC’s first bid in the NCAA FCS Playoffs. In the process he picked up his 100th career victory in the collegiate ranks.

Game #9 • Robert Morris 42, Central Connecticut State 24 Saturday, November 5, 2010 • Moon Township, Pa. Wagner College Stadium (Attendance: 2,410) - Robert Morris pushed its winning streak to three with another come-from-behind victory, scoring 30 unanswered points in the second half to record a 30-9 win over Wagner. Wagner built a 9-0 lead at halftime on the strength of a 41-yard field goal by David Lopez at the 6:53 mark of the first quarter and a 33-yard touchdown pass from Nick Doscher to Justin Matthews with just 1:46 remaining before halftime. The extra point attempt by Lopez after the touchdown by Matthews hit the right upright and bounced away, helping keep RMU’s deficit in single digits. Robert Morris finally cracked the scoreboard with 5:32 remaining in the third quarter when kicker Garrett Clawson capped an 11-play, 66-yard drive with his first field goal of the season, a 31-yard trifecta. The Seahawks stalled on their next possession, and on the fifth play of RMU’s following drive quarterback Jeff Sinclair faked a handoff to halfback Myles Russ, rolled to his right and connected with a wide open T.J. Green 15 yards down field. Green split the defense and galloped 65 yards to the end zone to give the Colonials their first lead of the afternoon, 10-9. On Wagner’s ensuing possession Doscher was leveled by linebacker Brad Banas on an option play, knocking the signal caller out of the game. Backup Tyler Newberry took over, and on his second play under center he was sacked by defensive lineman Nolan Nearhoof and fumbled. Linebacker Robert Williams recovered for Robert Morris at the 23-yard line of the Seahawks. The offense capitalized, as two players later Sinclair hit wide receiver Jamie Cobb for a 31-yard touchdown pass and a 17-9 RMU advantage. Robert Morris held Wagner to its first three-and-out of the afternoon on the next possession for the Seahawks, and Sinclair followed by marching the Colonials 78 yards on eight plays to help give RMU a 23-9 lead with an eight-yard touchdown strike to Cobb. Doscher returned under center for Wagner with the Seahawks trailing by 14 but tossed a trio of interceptions in the final 6:34 of regulation, including a pair to senior safety Michael Landers. The second pick by Landers was returned 27 yards to the Wagner 19-yard line, and Sinclair again helped Robert Morris capitalize on the great field position. His career-high fourth touchdown pass of the game, a six-yard toss to tight end Shadrae King with 1:29 to play, gave RMU a 30-9 lead. Picking Up Steam - Greg Langer has settled in nicely as RMU’s starting placekicker, as the junior has hit six straight field goal attempts and 10 of his last 12 in the last seven games. Langer ranks third in the NEC with his 10 field goals and leads the Colonials in points so far this season with 49. The school record for consecutive field goals made is held by a pair of Colonials. Former kicker Jeff Carlo (1998-2001) converted seven straight over the course of the 1998 and 1999 seasons, while former kicker Michael Walser (2005-07) closed out the 2007 campaign by hitting seven straight field goals. Hacky Sack - While junior defensive lineman Nolan Nearhoof leads Robert Morris this season in sacks with seven and-a-half, a total that ranks second in the Northeast Conference, he hasn’t been the only Colonial to put pressure on the quarterback. In fact, Robert Morris enters Saturday’s game against Wagner tied for third in the league with Albany in sacks with 19. Amazingly, a total of 10 Colonials have recorded at least half a sack for RMU so far this season. In addition to the seven-and-a-half from Nearhoof, junior defensive lineman Steve Mitchell owns two and-a-half sacks, while senior defensive lineman Sam Miller and sophomore defensive lineman Chris Thompkins each own a pair. Hanging Chad - Junior safety Cameron Chadwick has settled into his role as a leader on defense, and its showed the last four games. Over that span Chadwick owns 46 stops, an average of 11.5 per contest. Included in that stretch is a team-high 12 tackles against Bryant (10/22) as well as a career-high 16 tackles @ Albany (10/15). Thanks to his performance against the Great Danes, Chadwick became the 17th different Colonial in school history to accumulate at least 15 tackles in a game. Chadwick enters Saturday’s game against Wagner leading Robert Morris in tackles with 71, an average of 7.9 per contest that is tied for seventh in the Northeast Conference. Stay On Target - Senior Shadrae King has been a reliable target throughout his four years on the Robert Morris roster, and the proof is in the numbers. Of King’s 135 career receptions, 81 have provided the Colonials with either a first down or a touchdown (60%). King hauled in a 12-yard touchdown catch against Bryant (10/22), the 21st touchdown reception of his career and tying the school record also held by former wide receiver Tyjuan Massey (2002-05). King is also tied for ninth all-time at Robert Morris with 126 points with former wide receiver Fred Parker (1995-98). First Time for Everything - Junior quarterback Jeff Sinclair made history in RMU’s 4514 victory over Saint Francis (10/8), becoming the first quarterback in school history to eclipse the 100-yard rushing plateau. Sinclair finished with 110 yards rushing and a pair of touchdowns on just five carries, an average of 22.0 yards per rush. Sinclair posted touchdown runs of 64 and 22 yards in the second quarter to help the Colonials build a 35-0 halftime lead en route to the victory. Overall, Sinclair is the 12th different player in school history to post a 100-yard rushing game.

2011 Robert Morris Football Game Notes vs. Wagner (11/12/11) - Page 6 A New No. 1 - Senior tight end Shadrae King tied a career high with nine receptions in a 23-20 victory @ Monmouth (10/1), compiling 104 yards receiving and a pair of touchdowns. In addition to recording his third career 100yard receiving game, King became the program’s all-time leading receiver. He enters Saturday’s game against Wagner with 135 career catches, a total that eclipsed the record of 112 that was held by former wide receiver Tyjuan Massey (2002-05). King also owns 1,607 career receiving yards, which ranks second all-time at Robert Morris, and 21 touchdown catches, tied for the career school record. King enters Saturday’s game against the Seahawks ranked fourth in the Northeast Conference in receptions per game (4.56) and 10th in receiving yards (48.1) per contest. He is also seven catches shy of establishing a new RMU single-season record for receptions. Dr. Dre - Senior tight end Shadrae King recorded a pair of receptions for 18 yards in a 31-24 setback @ Central Connecticut State (11/5). It marked the 28th straight game dating back to the 2009 campaign that King has recorded at least one reception, extending a school record. King eclipsed the old mark of former wide receiver Opio Gary (1998-2000), who closed out his Robert Morris career by posting at least one reception in each of his final 22 games. Many Happy Returns - Senior Anthony Coleman has been a rock for Robert Morris on special teams throughout his career, as the wide receiver enters Saturday’s game against Wagner owning Robert Morris career records for kickoff returns (102) and kickoff return yards (2,220). Thanks to a careerhigh 175 all-purpose yards against Bryant (10/22), Coleman became the sixth player in school history to eclipse 3,000 career all-purpose yards. He enters Saturday’s game against the Seahawks with 3,408, which ranks fifth at Robert Morris. Based on his career average of 81.1 all-purpose yards per game, Coleman is on pace to finish his career with 3,570 career yards. Start Me Up - Seniors Anthony Coleman and Brad Rodgers each enter Saturday’s game against Wagner as RMU’s active leader in career starting assignments with 31. Coleman has started 31 straight at wide receiver, the longest active streak for consecutive starts, while Rodgers owns 28 straight starts on the offensive line and 31 overall. Two Pair - Quarterback Jeff Sinclair tossed three touchdown passes in a 45-14 victory over Saint Francis (10/8), including a pair to senior tight end Shadrae King. Thanks to the three scores through the air from Sinclair against the Red Flash, Robert Morris improved to 10-3 (.769) when he tosses two or more touchdown passes in a game. Dynamic Duo - Senior tight end Shadrae King hauled in a 12-yard touchdown pass from junior quarterback Jeff Sinclair in the second quarter against Bryant (10/22), helping him tie the school record for career touchdown receptions of 21 that is also held by former wide receiver Tyjuan Massey (2002-05). Over the last three seasons, Sinclair has connected with King for 15 touchdowns, the second highest total between a quarterback-receiver combo in school history. The only total higher comes from former quarterback Drew Geyer (2002-05) and Massey, who hooked up for 17 touchdowns over their four years together on the roster.

Last RMU Game Game #9 • Central Connecticut State 31, Robert Morris 24 November 5, 2011 • New Britain, Conn. Arute Field (Attendance: 2,125) - Robert Morris University saw its losing streak reach four as Central Connecticut State posted a 31-24 victory over the Colonials at Arute Field. Central Connecticut State grabbed an early 7-0 lead at the 8:41 mark of the first quarter when Brian Fowler produced a nine-yard touchdown run. The score was setup by a special teams snafu by Robert Morris, as a low snap on a punt attempt was never handled by freshman Tony LaMancusa, with the Blue Devils recovering at the nine-yard line of the Colonials. RMU would tie the contest, 7-7, in the second quarter when junior quarterback Jeff Sinclair capped an eight-play, 80-yard drive with a seven-yard touchdown run. Sinclair rushed twice for 16 yards during the drive and connected with senior Jamie Cobb twice for passes that totaled 35 yards, including a 17-yard strike that moved the ball to the CCSU seven-yard line. The Colonials would take a 10-7 lead on their next possession thanks to a 33-yard field goal from junior Greg Langer, but Sinclair was lost for the rest of the game due to injury during the drive. Central Connecticut State would take the lead back, 14-10, thanks to a five-yard touchdown pass from Gunnar Jespersen to David Sabilia with 1:24 left before the break, but freshman quarterback Matt Layman, subbing for Sinclair, gave RMU some spark heading into halftime, marching the Colonials 56 yards on four plays in just 39 seconds before capping it with a 14-yard touchdown pass to Cobb. Layman completed all four of his passes during the drive for 61 yards. Robert Morris would struggle offensively in the third quarter, however, going three-and-out on each of its three possessions. The Blue Devils took the lead for good with 3:47 to go in the third quarter when Jespersen tossed his second touchdown pass of the day, this time a 15yard score to Raul DeBenendittis. Fowler added a 13-yard touchdown run and Juan Duque a 31-yard field goal to push CCSU's advantage to 31-17 in the fourth quarter, but Layman engineered another quick scoring drive, marching Robert Morris 67 yards on just three plays, connecting with junior tight end Paul Evans for a 27-yard touchdown pass with 2:07 remaining. The Colonials tried the on-side kick to get the ball back, but Denzell Jones made a diving grab to help Central Connecticut State retain possession. 2011 Robert Morris Football Game Notes vs. Wagner (11/12/11) - Page 7 The Long and The Short of It - Senior wide receiver Anthony Coleman, thanks to four seasons as the starter at return specialist for Robert Morris, has put up some impressive numbers across the board. In addition to entering Saturday’s game against Wagner ranked fifth all-time at RMU in career all-purpose yards with 3,408, Coleman has produced 70 plays for the Colonials over the last four years that have been at least 20 yards or longer. Broke down, 51 of those 70 (72.8%) have come on kickoff returns, 14 (20%) have come via receptions and five (7.1%) on punt returns. The 70 plays of 20 yards or longer by Coleman are the most in school history, eclipsing the 62 former wide receiver Tyjuan Massey posted from 2002 to 2005. Foot Joy - One of the most important aspects that junior Jeff Sinclair brings to the quarterback position at Robert Morris is his versatility. In a 31-24 setback @ Central Connecticut State (11/5), Sinclair rushed for a 14-yard touchdown in the first quarter that helped tie the game, 7-7. In 27 career games, Sinclair has already rushed for 14 touchdowns. To put that in perspective, prior to Sinclair becoming the starter under center at RMU, quarterbacks combined for 16 rushing touchdowns in the first 156 games of the program’s history. New Balance - A pair of Colonials each received their first career start against Sacred Heart (10/29), as sophomore Mark Centofanti got the call at linebacker due to injuries to juniors Brad Banas and Andrew Douglass, while freshman Antwan Eddie earned his first career start at cornerback. Centofanti was one of three Colonials to finish the game with eight tackles, second for RMU on the afternoon with linebacker Jon Krepps and safety D.J. Myers. The starts for Centofanti and Eddie pushed the total of Colonials to earn their first career collegiate start at Robert Morris this season to 21. An Important Position - Catching his first career touchdown pass @ Liberty (9/10) was sophomore tight end Vince Mongelluzzo, who hauled in a nine-yard touchdown reception with 10:25 remaining in the fourth quarter for his first career catch. One of the most important positions in head coach Joe Walton’s offense, Mongelluzzo is the 18th different tight end in the 18-year history of the program to post a touchdown catch. In fact, Mongelluzzo is currently one of four tight ends in school history whose only catch is a touchdown, joining junior Tyler Digby and former Colonials Jeremy Wise (2002-05) and Sean McElhinny (2007-10). Saturday Night Lights - Robert Morris hosted its first night game in the program’s 18year history as part of the University’s Homecoming festivities Oct. 8, rolling to a 45-14 win over in-state rival Saint Francis at Joe Walton Stadium. A total of 4,384 fans packed “The Joe” for the win over the Red Flash, the largest crowd in the seven-year history of the facility as well as the sixth official sellout since the venue opened in 2005. The game marked just the seventh time Robert Morris played a game with a kickoff after 5:00 p.m., with the Colonials owning a record of 2-5 (.286) all-time in night games. Four of RMU’s seven night games have come in the last three years. Home Sweet Home - Slowly but surely, Robert Morris has learned to protect its home turf at Joe Walton Stadium. Thanks to a 42-24 win over Central Connecticut State (11/6/10) that clinched a share of the 2010 Northeast Conference championship, RMU stretched its winning streak at “The Joe” to eight games, the longest winning streak at the facility since opening the stadium in 2005. Despite a 19-13 setback to Dayton (9/3) in the 2011 season opener that snapped the eight-game surge, overall Robert Morris owns a record of 18-17 (.514) in seven seasons at Joe Walton Stadium.

Making The Grade - Defensive lineman Nolan Nearhoof became the third player in program history to be named to the Capital One Academic All-America Team in 2010 when he earned second team accolades. Nearhoof owns a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.87 as a biology major and joined former Colonials Jonathan LeDonne (2001-04) and Ray Gensler (2003-06) to earn the honor. LeDonne, a linebacker, was named to the 2004 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America First Team, while Gensler, a defensive lineman, was a twotime honoree, earning second team accolades in 2005 and first team honors in 2006. In nine games so far on the 2011 campaign, Nearhoof owns 60 tackles, including seven and-a-half sacks, and a pair of fumble recoveries. He enters Saturday’s game against Wagner as RMU’s active leader in career tackles with 137. Preseason Honors - A total of five Colonials earned spots on the 2011 All-Northeast Conference Preseason Team. Junior quarterback Jeff Sinclair, senior center Logan Miles and senior tight end Shadrae King were placed on offense, junior defensive lineman Nolan Nearhoof earned a spot on defense and senior Anthony Coleman was picked as the return specialist on special teams. In addition, King was named to the 2011 Preseason Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) All-America Second Team by both The Sports Network and Phil Steele and the 2011 Preseason FCS Honorable Mention Team by Consensus Draft Services. Mitchell On The Move - Did any student-athlete have a better year in 2010-11 than Steve Mitchell? In the fall of 2010, Mitchell started all 11 games on the defensive line, recording 37 tackles in helping Robert Morris claim its sixth NEC regular-season championship and the league’s inaugural bid to the NCAA Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) Playoffs. In the spring of 2011 he ignited the RMU outdoor track & field squad to a second-place finish at the 2011 NEC Outdoor Track & Field Championships with 133 points, the squad’s highest finish since winning the 2000 NEC Outdoor Track & Field title with 146.5 points. Mitchell was named the 2011 Most Outstanding Field Performer after claiming gold in the hammer throw and silver in the shot put. He posted a toss of 50.83 meters in the hammer and a throw of 16.29 meters in the shot, establishing a new RMU outdoor school record. To top it off, Mitchell owns a 3.55 cumulative grade point average as a management major.

The Streak Continued - The football program helped Robert Morris extend one of its most impressive streaks in school history in the fall of 2010. The Colonials returned to the top of the Northeast Conference after a 10-year hiatus with a record of 7-1 (.875) in league play and shared the 2010 regular-season championship with Central Connecticut State. However, by virtue of a 42-24 victory over the Blue Devils at Joe Walton Stadium (11/6/10), RMU clinched the NEC’s inaugural bid to the NCAA Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) Playoffs. It marked the 12th straight season that Robert Morris has sent at least one of its programs to an NCAA Tournament, dating back to the 1999-2000 campaign. 2011 Robert Morris Football Game Notes vs. Wagner (11/12/11) - Page 9 Those Issues Are Secondary - Through the first nine contests of the 2011 season, a member of the Robert Morris secondary has led the team in tackles in six games. Included in that group is senior cornerback Alex Tarr (twice), junior safeties Cameron Chadwick (twice) and Eric Lowry and sophomore safety D.J. Myers. Chadwick and Myers rank first and second for the Colonials in tackles so far this season with 71 and 62, respectively, with Chadwick owning three double-digit takedown games. So far on the 2011 campaign, a total of 256 of RMU’s 668 tackles (38.3 percent) so far this season having come from its secondary. Rank and File - Robert Morris certainly posted a defining victory when it garnered a 30-23 upset win over No. 14/15 Liberty (9/18) at Joe Walton Stadium, but should it really come as a surprise? The victory improved the Colonials to a perfect 2-0 when squaring off with a ranked opponent at home. RMU defeated fellow Northeast Conference foe Central Connecticut State, 23-17, in a pair of overtimes at Joe Walton Stadium Oct. 14, 2006, for its first win over a ranked opponent. The Blue Devils entered that game ranked No. 19 by The Sports Network, while the Flames occupied the No. 15 spot in TSN’s poll before falling to the Colonials. RMU’s loss @ Liberty (9/10) dropped the Colonials to 2-2 (.500) all-time when facing off with a ranked opponent, as the Flames entered the game ranked 24th by The Sports Network. To see the latest FCS national rankings by The Sports Network, please see page 7 of RMU’s game notes. Get To The Chopper - A quick glance at RMU’s record when broken down proves how important it is the Colonials get off to a good start in contests. When Robert Morris is leading at halftime, the program owns an all-time record of 85-12 (.876). When trailing at the break, Robert Morris owns a mark of 10-57-1 (.154). Even going into halftime tied is beneficial, as the Colonials own an overall record of 11-8 (.579) in such games. The Magic Mark - Since the Colonials began play in 1994 there have been 70 games in which Robert Morris has scored 30 or more points. In those contests RMU boasts a record of 66-4 (.944), including a record of 38-4 (.905) in games in which the team scores between 30 and 39 points. In games in which the Colonials score 40 or more points, RMU is a perfect 28-0. RMU Football Historical Tidbits - The inaugural running back at Robert Morris, the late Tim Hall (1994-95), rushed for 2,908 yards in his two seasons as a Colonial. Hall still owns the FCS season and career records for yards per carry, with his season record of 8.7 yards per carry set in 1994 and his twoyear career record of 7.4 established in 1994 and 1995 ... Hall also ranks fourth all-time in the FCS in all-purpose yards per game (194.8) ... Former Colonial linebacker James Noel (2002-05) ranks fifth in the FCS record book for career tackles per game (10.7), while his career tackle total of 437 takedowns ranks 12th all-time ... Former linebacker Alex DiMichele (2007-10) averaged 10.3 tackles per game over his three years in a Robert Morris uniform, which is tied for eighth all-time in the FCS record book with former Saint Francis linebacker Matthew Parker, who played from 2007 to 2010. A Colonial in the NFL Hank Fraley, who played on the offensive line for Robert Morris from 19961999, has carved a niche for himself in the National Football League (NFL). Signed by the Pittsburgh Steelers to a free agent contract in April 2000, Fraley was claimed off waivers the following August by the Philadelphia Eagles. After an ankle injury to Bubba Miller in the final 2001 preseason game, Fraley stepped up and started at center for Philadelphia the entire season, helping the team to the 2002 NFC Championship game. For four straight seasons with Fraley starting at center from 2002-05, the Eagles appeared in the NFC Championship game. In 2005, Fraley became the first RMU football alum to appear in the Super Bowl when he started at center against the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XXXIX. Prior to the start of the 2006 campaign, Fraley was traded by Philadelphia to Cleveland, where he started all 16 games for the Browns on the year. Fraley played four seasons with the Browns from 2006 to 2009, earning 52 starts in 63 games, before signing as a free agent with the St. Louis Rams March 14, 2010. Entering the 2011 season, which will be his 12th year in the NFL, Fraley has started 123 of his career 142 games and has also earned 10 starts in the postseason. Primarily a center, Fraley has also started at both guard and tackle throughout his NFL career. Fraley became the second Colonial to have his number retired, joining inaugural running back Tim Hall (1994-95), as Fraley’s No. 75 was enshrined prior to RMU’s game against Sacred Heart on Sept. 22, 2001. Fraley became the sixth football inductee into the Robert Morris Athletic Hall of Fame when he was enshrined Oct. 14, 2006.
