2011 Robert Morris Football Game Notes vs. Wagner (11/12/11) - Page 9 Those Issues Are Secondary - Through the first nine contests of the 2011 season, a member of the Robert Morris secondary has led the team in tackles in six games. Included in that group is senior cornerback Alex Tarr (twice), junior safeties Cameron Chadwick (twice) and Eric Lowry and sophomore safety D.J. Myers. Chadwick and Myers rank first and second for the Colonials in tackles so far this season with 71 and 62, respectively, with Chadwick owning three double-digit takedown games. So far on the 2011 campaign, a total of 256 of RMU’s 668 tackles (38.3 percent) so far this season having come from its secondary. Rank and File - Robert Morris certainly posted a defining victory when it garnered a 30-23 upset win over No. 14/15 Liberty (9/18) at Joe Walton Stadium, but should it really come as a surprise? The victory improved the Colonials to a perfect 2-0 when squaring off with a ranked opponent at home. RMU defeated fellow Northeast Conference foe Central Connecticut State, 23-17, in a pair of overtimes at Joe Walton Stadium Oct. 14, 2006, for its first win over a ranked opponent. The Blue Devils entered that game ranked No. 19 by The Sports Network, while the Flames occupied the No. 15 spot in TSN’s poll before falling to the Colonials. RMU’s loss @ Liberty (9/10) dropped the Colonials to 2-2 (.500) all-time when facing off with a ranked opponent, as the Flames entered the game ranked 24th by The Sports Network. Get To The Chopper - A quick glance at RMU’s record when broken down proves how important it is the Colonials get off to a good start in contests. When Robert Morris is leading at halftime, the program owns an all-time record of 85-12 (.876). When trailing at the break, Robert Morris owns a mark of 10-57-1 (.154). Even going into halftime tied is beneficial, as the Colonials own an overall record of 11-8 (.579) in such games. The Magic Mark - Since the Colonials began play in 1994 there have been 70 games in which Robert Morris has scored 30 or more points. In those contests RMU boasts a record of 66-4 (.944), including a record of 38-4 (.905) in games in which the team scores between 30 and 39 points. In games in which the Colonials score 40 or more points, RMU is a perfect 28-0. RMU Football Historical Tidbits - The inaugural running back at Robert Morris, the late Tim Hall (1994-95), rushed for 2,908 yards in his two seasons as a Colonial. Hall still owns the FCS season and career records for yards per carry, with his season record of 8.7 yards per carry set in 1994 and his twoyear career record of 7.4 established in 1994 and 1995 ... Hall also ranks fourth all-time in the FCS in all-purpose yards per game (194.8) ... Former Colonial linebacker James Noel (2002-05) ranks fifth in the FCS record book for career tackles per game (10.7), while his career tackle total of 437 takedowns ranks 12th all-time ... Former linebacker Alex DiMichele (2007-10) averaged 10.3 tackles per game over his three years in a Robert Morris uniform, which is tied for eighth all-time in the FCS record book with former Saint Francis linebacker Matthew Parker, who played from 2007 to 2010.
