SHOCKING SHOTS

Marco always said when someone was hurt in an accident on a track: “Hey, that’s racing. If you don’t want to get hurt, stay at home”. He died doing the thing he loved the most, riding motorcycles. Fast, fearless, almost invincible. He has left us behind way too soon So I will end with his words: “Hey, that’s racing.” Ciao Marco, Ciao Super Sic!

2011, last year of the 800cc MotoGP. After many years fighting to win a title that seemed impossible, Honda got it. But not only that, Honda did it in a way that seemed impossible, with only five engines for the whole season. Valentino Rossi had to use seven engines, while the rest of his rivals did it with six, as it’s indicated by the regulations. The merit is all from Casey Stoner, who is able to perform his bike without too many laps in a row.

The best year for Suzuki could be the last. After the change of Alvaro Bautista to Honda, it seems that Suzuki will not continue in 2012 in MotoGP. The economic difficulties have not allowed Suzuki to develop a 1000cc MotoGP bike and its only option was to race with the 800cc. We will miss the beautiful blue MotoGP!

Casey Stoner’s Heroes

Mr. and Mrs. Stoner

Casey Stoner is already a legend in his country, but, like any rider, he has his own idols. These are his heroes:

Despite their youth, Adriana and Casey are married since 2007. They are one of the best-known couples of the Paddock and it is hard to remember the Australian rider without his wife next to him. This year, both gave the news that they will be parents soon, a new challenge for the Australian couple that will soon have a new excellent Grand Prix at home.

• • • • • • • •

Casey Stoner, the young Australian rider, has won his second MotoGP title. Adriana, his wife, is expecting a baby and both are living a dream. The life is smiling to them. But to get this far, Casey has had to do a way of effort and difficulty. Stoner was born in a family farm who loved both the field and motor sports. The little Casey showed soon his skills to ride motorcycles and, before moving to Europe, he got all the titles he could. In his final season in Australia he won almost every race he competed, winning 32 of the 35 races where he participated, and getting

Mick Doohan Wayne Gardner Kevin Schwantz Wayne Rainey Valentino Rossi Giacomo Agostini Barry Sheene Kenny Roberts

the championship of all the categories in which he participated. In those days, from nine to fourteen years, Stoner achieved 41 titles of dirt track and long track, and 70 regional championships, enough to set his goals in Europe.

European Racing His family did not have large amounts of money, so they had to make great efforts to compete in Europe and for a long time, Casey and his parents were living in the same motorhome in which they traveled to the races of the Spanish Championship and the British Championship.

In 2000, Stoner participated in the 125 cc British Championship and also tried his luck in the Championship of Spain, competing in the last two races of the season, close to get a podium. In 2001, besides participating in the British and Spanish championships (completing both), he participated in two World 125 c.c. tests, getting to score in his favorite circuit, Phillip Island. That year, Casey competed in 22 races and managed to be runner-up in both championships: the British and the Spanish one. And all this time living in a motorhome.

MOTOGP Valentino and the Stoner’s Ducati Many people wonder why Valentino Rossi has not been able to make the Ducati Desmosedici works well, the same bike that Casey Stoner managed 9 podiums and three victories with in 2010. The answer is simple. Stoner has a way of driving that only he can do and not even Valentino has been able to repeat. So much so that Rossi has focused this year to work on the bike that he will ride in 2012, as he has been unable to do it well with this bike. The key is how Stoner gets to make the motorbike skid. He uses the rear brake in a special way to control at all times how the rear wheel slide. He is even able to do it with the two wheels without falling! Next year everything will change a lot. 1000cc engines will return and all the GP bikes will be new. Valentino will have a new opportunity and can demonstrate the ability to ride a Ducati fast, something that, today, only Casey has got.

World Championship His definitive arrival at the World Championship was in 2002. The LCR team gave him the opportunity to compete with a 250cc Aprilia, and in his first season he alternated good results with sharp falls. Seeing him in the top ten of each race was as common as seeing him falling down. In 2003 and 2004 moved down to the 125cc category and, although he continued falling too often, he achieved his first podium and his first win in a Grand Prix. In 2005 he returned to the 250cc category, where he fought for the title until almost the last race. His

greatest rival was Dani Pedrosa, a rider who maintains a hard rivalry since then.

MotoGP In 2006, both Dani Pedrosa and Casey Stoner moved up to the MotoGP World Championship. Pedrosa, who had got two World tittles in 250, was one of the references. Everyone was looking at the Spanish rider but Casey Stoner showed that, with a non official Honda, he was as strong as him. He got a pole position in his second race and got a podium in the third Grand Prix of the year (Turkey, 2nd place).

But one more time, he had too many falls that affected to his season and he finished at 8th place, which does not show his quality as a rider. In 2007 Ducati wanted Nicky Hayden as official rider, but negotiations did not come to fruition. At that time most of the riders had already signed their contracts and Ducati opted for Casey Stoner, as a last option. A decision that made Ducati happy forever.

Jorge Lorenzo The hardest enemy

Jorge Lorenzo was the principal rival of Casey Stoner in 2011. Until the last Grand Prix of Australia, Jorge was the MotoGP World Champion and this year his goal was to be champion again. But from the beginning of the championship, the Yamaha of Jorge was one step behind the Honda, and although he has been the hardest rival for Casey Stoner, the three victories of Jorge this season are far from the 10 achieved by the Australian rider.

POINTS

the Qatar GP. A total of 10 victories, 14 podiums, 5 pole positions and 367 points were the numbers os that year, in which both Ducati and Stoner won their first title in MotoGP. Casey spent three more years with Ducati. During this time, only he could ride the Ducati Desmosedici at the highest level, and his mates were unable to match the results of the Australian rider. The last stage of Ducati was in 2011. It was clear that Honda wanted to have

the Australian rider in its team, and that is why Honda hired Livio Suppo in 2009, MotoGP Project Manager, who would guarantee Casey Stoner riding for the Japanese company two years later. With this decision they were looking for more ways to win the MotoGP World Championship, and to prevent Honda passing the 800cc MotoGP time without winning a single title. Since the very first moment in which Casey started to ride the Honda RC 212V, in November 2010, we learned that Casey

was going to be the rider to beat this season. Race after race, the Australian rider confirmed that he was the fastest and, with that bike, he was almost unbeatable. Only Dani Pedrosa and Jorge Lorenzo have achieved to face him, but for one or other reason, Stoner has got being the leader. None of the first class riders were able to prevent the win of Casey as the the new MotoGP World Champion, on his birthday and in his home Grand Prix.

58 MESSAGES FOR SUPER SIC

Family & Friends Paolo Simoncelli (father): “It is wonderful to see the affection of the people, Marco was a special person and maybe the people realized how he was, honest, pure, a warrior, perhaps he died for this. I loved him and he loved me. Before each race we always hugged each other and we did it this time too. They say God calls the best to heaven, so he must be one of them”. Rossella Simoncelli (mother): “We will miss him, but we have to keep him alive. I have always been a lucky mother thanks to what we have been able to give to Marco and Martina. He will always remain with me.” Kate Fretti (girlfriend): “Marco was a perfect man and perfect people cannot live with the rest of mortals. He had told me we would be together forever and he was wrong. I am very young and I have too much time until I can meet with him again. I will never forget him”. Valentino Rossi (friend): “Sic was for me as a younger brother. Very strong on the track and very sweet in normal life. I will miss him a lot. I remember it as well, Misano 2011, big fight”. Fausto Gresini (Team Manager): “The best tribute that we can do to Marco is keep running and our riders fight to get the best results. It is what he had wanted and that is what we are going to do”.

Andrea Dovizioso (Rider): “We have been racing together since we were kids and I always see him riding at his best. He had many falls but never anything serious, he seemed invincible. I will have the 58 in my chest, near my heart”. Loris Capirossi (Rider): “Simoncelli’s accident gave me a deep sadness. Now I’m happy to have been able to show his number, 58, instead of 65 in my last race. In any way, Marco has raced the last race with me”. Michele Pirro (Rider): “Marco was with me in the last race of the year. He helped me to achieve the pole and victory, something I will never forget. During the race I asked him for not leaving me alone and he accompanied me until the end. I think it was a good idea to compete in Valencia and dedicate him everything. Speak to me in the easy way which you always used. Put no difference into your tone. Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow. Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes we enjoyed together. MOTO2

Bradl’s Bradl’s 2011 season 2011 seaso The season started in the best way possible for the rider of Augsburg, who got the victory in the Grand Prix of Qatar after being the best in almost all the sessions. After Qatar, it was the turn of Jerez GP where the rain prevented him achieve another podium. Someone though that the Stefan’s domain had been just an illusion but after the Spanish Grand Prix, the Viessmann Kiefer Racing rider got again the pole position and the victory in Portugal. Since that moment, the Kalex number 65 did not get off the podium in the following three GP, reaching a second place and two resounding victories. At such times, Bradl seemed to have a stranglehold and no one could dispute the victories, leading the overall standings comfortably. However his luck changed in Assen, where he did not get a point due to his first retirement after a fall. That was the turning point for the German, who just could reach second and third positions always behind his main rival, Marc Márquez. Perhaps his worst moments were in Indianapolis and Aragon. In the first of these GP Bradl suffered a dramatic crash in the qualification practice Q3 and this conditioned significantly the performance of his race, as he had to start from the 22nd place of the grid. However, in Motorland Aragon some problems with the tires kept him away from the top positions. In any case, Stefan was able to finished in 6th and 8th place respectively, great results for these difficult races. Reaching the last races of the championship, his main goal was to stop Marquez in their fight for the title trying to score more points than the Spanish rider, but he only get it in Australia where Marc had a very difficult race and in the last two races, Malaysia and Valencia, where Márquez did not start by the injuries of the crash suffered in the Malaysian GP practice. The injury of Márquez made the German achieve the world title easier, who won the championship despite his crash in the last race of the season. Now, Stefan is the first German champion in the middle class since Antong Mang in 1987.

uez’s 2011 season Marquez’s 2011 season Unlike the spectacular start of the season of Bradl, Marquez started in the worst way possible, falling in the first three races. In Qatar he crashed, while in Jerez Cluzel made him crash. In Portugal, the situation was reversed and Marquez was who crashed with another rider. It was not until the 4th test when Marc got scoring, getting his first win of the season. Since then, he was able to overcome every weekend and did great races, with the exception of Silverstone, where he fell. At that time the championship was about two riders and the fight Marquez VS Bradl excited the championship. Certainly, from mid-season onwards the Suter rider was the clear dominator, reducing 83 points to his closest rival until the Japan GP, where for the first time and by a single point, Marc was placed as a leader in the overall standings. But when all seemed to be in favor of the Spanish rider, a dangerous and pointless action led him to crash dramatically with Wilairot once finished the first practice session at the Australian GP. As a result, he was punished and had to start from the last place of the grid. However, after a memorable overtake Marquez got to finish 3rd and keeping his chances for the title. Unfortunately, a week later, in the GP of Malaysia, Márquez had a terrible fall because of a puddle of water on a curve, and he could not continue riding. He could not contest the race in Malaysia, and in Valencia either. So Bradl became the champion before the beginning of the race.

MOTO2 Stefan Bradl, son of the 250cc World Runner-up in 1991, has got to be at his 22 years old the Moto2 World Champion. He is now one of the 8 German riders who have achieved a world title, but he is also the hope of the German people to be their first MotoGP World Champion.

The following year he returned to the World Championship with the Kiefer Racing team, and managed to be fourth in the 125cc class, showing he was a very fast rider and able to reach the top. In 2009 continued in 125cc, but things did not go very well and he finished in ninth position.

Stefan began competing at the age of 15 and he was soon part of the Red Bull Rookies Cup, participating in some World Championship races. Alberto Puig (Dani Pedrosa’s manager) signed him in his team, but Stefan did not like the discipline of the team and quitted with the World Championship at the age of 17.

In 2010 Stefan and his team decided to jump into Moto2 and tried to compete with a Kalex, but an agreement of the chassis manufacturers forced Bradl to find another option and they decided to compete with a Suter bike with great results, but they were convinced that they could became faster with a Kalex bike so, in 2011, they tried it again and managed to compete with the desired bike. German rider (Bradl), German team (Kiefer) and German bike (Kalex), an explosive mix that has had an excellent result.

Ricard Jové (BQR Team manager) was convinced of the quality as a rider of Stefan and decided to call him to participate in the Spanish Championship. Stefan accepted and felt good again on a racing bike. That year, when also fought with Marc Márquez, he got the Spanish 125cc title.

Stefan’s path

MOTO2

Marc’s path Marc Marquez is like a child prodigy. His successful career began when he was very young and everyone who knows him knows he has a long future ahead. Some people say that he is the successor of Dani Pedrosa (a rider and a friend for Marc) and even some people say he will be the next Valentino Rossi. When he was four years old, Marc began to ask for a motorcycle of gasoline (not electric) to their parents. Julia and Roser, who also like motorbikes from a young age, could not resist and gave him the first bike with which the little Marc learned to ride a bike. Marc’s career also began very early, when he was just five he started racing in children championships. He started practicing enduro and later motocross but with nine years old he began to participate in road racing series taking part in the Catalan Championship in which he always managed to be among the top three. When he was fourteen years old he took part for his very first time in the Spanish Championship, and soon won his first race. In the third race of the 2007 season, he managed to win in Jerez ahead of Stefan Bradl and Scott Redding.

In 2008 Marc made the jump to the World Championship with the KTM official team but, as he had no minimum age for admission, he began the season in the third Grand Prix of the year, the GP of Portugal. In 2009, his second season, he continued racing with KTM and managed to become the youngest rider to achieve a pole position (GP of France). The 2010 season will be remembered in the history. It was a tough battle between Pol Espargaró and Marc Márquez for the 125cc title. In the 2010 Portugal GP, Marc achieved an epic victory coming from the back of the grid and showing he was a rider who had a great future ahead. He won the title in the last race of the year, but could not celebrate his first world title with Champagne because he was younger than 18 years old. In 2011 he arrives to the Moto2 World Championship. It is his first season and his goal is just to learn, but he took little time to demonstrate his quality and soon began to fight with Bradl for the title. He has had many falls, but when he has finished a race, he has always done it in the top three.

Terol has been the last champion in the history of the 125 cc World Championship. TEROL

Since late 2010 Nico Terol confirmed his continuation for another year in 125 cc he became the reference in the category. The World Championship runner-up had the last chance to win the title.

After the summer holidays Terol had mechanical problems that caused the loss of 25 points in the Czech Republic GP. Far of getting discouraged he kept working, winning again in Indianapolis, San Marino and Aragon.

In the first half of the season Terol dominated with no problems, wining the races of Qatar, Jerez and Portugal. The 2011 started well for him, watching how the rest of the riders made mistakes that allowed him to head final placing easily.

These victories were not enough and the poor results of Australia (6th) and Malaysia (5th) meant that he had to fight hard against Zarco until the end. That end came as a World Champion title on November 6, 2011. A date that Terol will never forget.

However, after winning five of the seven first races, a crash in the free practice of the Netherlands GP, where he injured his hand, made his advantage reduced. Since then his rivals took advantage of any mistake of Nico to reduce points.

Zarco, the eternal second Johan Zarco was during the 2011 season one of the most regular riders, finishing every single race (except Valencia). Thanks to that he was the runner-up, even wining only one race. The beginning of the season was good for Zarco, he got three podiums in the first five races, which made him one of the rivals of Terol. But the GP were passing and Zarco, who had not ever won, could not finish a race in first position. He even made two controversial actions, one at the Catalunya GP getting Terol out of the track close to the finish line, and the other one in the San Marino GP, where he tried to stop Terol when the Spanish passed him. After he overcame his anxiety, Johan finally achieved his long-awaited victory in the Japanese GP. At the end of the year and thanks to his regularity he could have won the Valencia GP, but a fall in the first laps made it impossible.

125CC Vi単ales, the golden rookie Winner of the CEV and the 2010 European Championship, Vi単ales has finished his first season in the World Championship with great results. With four wins on tracks that he only knew playing with the PlayStation, he has positioned himself as the main favourite for the Moto3 title next season.

The handicap of not knowing the track has not meant a problem for this rookie, who won in Francia besides in Assen, Malaysia and Valencia. Although the weakness of Vi単ales has been undoubtedly the choice of tires, which he did wrong and took away points that could have been important for the championship.

Nobody seemed to bet for Vi単ales at the beginning of this year, a rider trained in the Spanish Championship and who came to the World Championship with the team Blusens by Paris Hilton. However, in a race to remember, Maverick got the French Grand Prix, passing Terol in the last curve after struggling with him the whole race.

For the memory there is an amazing race in Motegi, where the chain of his Aprilia got broken before the race, and he had to start from the last position. Despite of this he got a fourth place. Is him the new Valentino Rossi?

SPANISH CHAMPIONSHIP From Spain, to the world Currently the grid of the CEV’s races are composed for more than a hundred and twenty riders every racing weekend shared between 125 GP, Moto2, Stock Extreme classes and the Kawasaki Ninja Cup,.Most riders who have reached the World Championship, come from the 125 GP class. This category was dominated in the last season by the Caixa Catalunya Repsol team managed by former world champion Emilio Alzamora. This is the same team in which Marc Márquez competed in the 2012 World Championship. It’s usual to find Marc Márquez in the CEV races near the box of Caixa Catalunya Repsol as one of the riders is his brother Alex Márquez, who was second in the overall standings behind teammate Alex Rins, Spanish 2012 champion. Currently the top ten of the World Championship riders have raced through the 125cc class of the CEV which shows how important is the CEV for the World Championship. The 2010 Spanish Champion, Maverick Viñales, has been one of the best riders of the 2011 125cc World championship in his very first season, managing to win a couple of races.

SPANISH CHAMPIONSHIP Two seconds ahead MotoGP

Moto2 Although most riders who reach the World Championship come from 125cc class, there are some Moto2 riders who have reached the World Championship too. The winner of the CEV Moto2 2010, Carmelo Morales, has been racing for the G22 team until an untimely injury has made him go home. The 2011 Moto2 Champion, Jordi Torres, also raced the World Moto2 Championship with the Mapfre Aspar Team. The last addition was our mate Ivan Moreno, one of the fastest riders in the CEV, which was a GP rider in the Australian and Malaysian Grand Prix.

The class reserved for motorbikes that come from production ones is Stock Extreme, a 1000cc class where the fastest riders set times very close to those recorded by the MotoGP riders on the same tracks. In fact, in some cases they were able to ride faster than MotoGP riders like Abraham or Elias.

Kawasaki Ninja Cup The Spanish Championship is a great school for riders. Part of his success is due to the promotion cups, single brand championships held together with the CEV. The Kawasaki Ninja Cup, in which all riders ride the Kawasaki ZX 6R is currently part of the Spanish Championship. Previously was the Movistar Cup, with Honda RS 125, in which competed riders like Dani Pedrosa, Alvaro Bautista or Julian Simon.

The current champion of this class is Ivan Silva, who has raced several races in MotoGP, WSBK, WSSP and World Endurance and currently also works on the evolution of Inmotec MotoGP bike, which will be racing in the CRT new MotoGP class.

And also WSBK

Melting pot of nationalities

The result of the great school which is the CEV also reaches the World Superbike Championship in which compete riders like Carlos Checa, Joan Lascorz, Ruben Xaus, Xavi ForÊs and David Salom, they all were also CEV riders in the past. We mustn’t forget other riders who were in the WSBK series such as Fonsi Nieto, Gregorio Lavilla, David De Gea or Jose Luis Cardoso.

Something that confirms that the CEV is a real success is the number of countries that are represented by their riders. A total amount of 15 different nations were represented in the 2011 CEV: Argentina, Australia, Brazil, France, Germany, Britain, India, Italy, Japan, Spain, South Africa, Czech Republic, Russia, Portugal and USA.

BRITISH SUPERBIKE CHAMPIONSHIP

“The Showdown” The new system, called “The Showdown” splits the season into two parts. A regular season consists of 9 rounds: 19 sleeves over 8 doubles and a last triple race. In the middle of the season the 6 first riders of the overall classification jumps into the Showdown. These happens after subtracting the two worst results of the season (forgiving falls and mechanical problems and that is what really tightens the classification), adding 500 points and giving some more points for each podium finish made by these riders. With the new classification, the six “elected” face the last three events with no major differences and with options to win the Championship. The 2012 riders who went to the final round were: Tommy Hill, John Hopkins, Shane Byrne, Michael Laverty, Josh Brookes and Ryuichi Kiyonari. Although they all came with options to win the title, Tommy Hill and John Hopkins stood out immediately as the two riders with real possibilities.

The second part of the championship consists on three racing weekends and 7 races (the first two are double and the last is triple). Hopkins began the Showdown with three straight wins and his initial advantage seemed to assure the title to the American, but John had some bad luck suffering a mechanical failure in the second of the three final races. This issue and the regularity of Tommy Hill allowed him to get so close to Hopkins that the title would be decided in the last race of the year. The two riders ran the last race at the limit of their riding ability with lots of overtaking during the race. Hopkins was clearly superior braking in the Surtees corner but Hill was stronger at the end of the spectacular layout of Brands Hatch. In a dramatic final lap, Hill won by a narrow margin of 6 hundredths of a second while Hopkins almost steals the championship in the last yard.

The mountain A jump?, Yes and a big one! A Superbike race may be associated with anything but a jump. But in the BSB it can happen, particularly in the Cadwell Park circuit and specifically in the area known as The Mountain. After a series of slow corners the track faces a radical rise that ends abruptly causing the takeoff of the bikes. Some riders prefer to cut off and not to waste time through the air, but some others, like the Australian Joshua Brookes, use their motocross experience to take advantage of this “low fly. Brookes and other MX specialists are able to afford the jump near other riders and overtake them through the air. Amazing, is not it? Watch this video to prove it!

Tracks Many of the British circuits come from the time of the Second World War. During that years were built many air bases of the RAF (Royal Army Force) throughout the country. In those airfields, building tracks and roads, fighter pilots built “paths” and raced their cars and motorcycles between war missions. Once the war was finished some of them became permanent circuits and many still retain the aerodrome. British tracks are known to be authentic roller coasters with constant ups and downs. This, united to the usual adverse weather conditions and the track tarmac not always in the best conditions, makes these tracks some of the toughest in the world.

When did your passion for motorcycles born? I think it was around 1995 when I started getting into motorcycles I was around 15 years old and I couldn’t afford a car so I wanted to look for cheaper and more efficient option. I remember seeing ads for the Smoking Joes CBR600F3 and thought that was the coolest thing. I also loved the way the ZX-750R and 900RR looked at the time. Do you have a motor motorbike? Which brand and model is? I currently have a ‘05 Honda CBR600RR and a ‘03 Suzuki DL1000. For some reason I’ve been thinking that owning a 2004 Ducati 998 would be fun. I remember when I first saw that 916 model I was blown away. To me, that model/style still remains one of the best looking even when compared to today’s bikes. It’s seriously like sex on two wheels haha! Who is your favorite MotoGP rider? I like Rossi - but I think I would rather see more competitive racing. I hope other riders/manufacturers can fight for 1st place for a change.

DESIGN Who do you think will win in MotoGP 2012? I’m going to guess Stoner - he seems pretty comfortable at Honda. I hope Rossi does better as well as Lorenzo! Which companies have you worked for? I worked for a couple of motorcycle shops in San Francisco as well as a motorcycle magazine called Urban Moto. I’m currently working as a freelance illustrator. Komik atau gambar motor mana yang menginspirasimu? Joe Bar Team was one of the most inspirational moto-related things I’ve seen. When I was first introduced to it I thought it was so cool that Christian Debarre and Stéphane Deteindre were able to have the drawings done in a fun ‘cartoony’ way but still be completely recognizable as to what kind of bike it is! Another motorcycle related art I like is from Jamaican artist, Keron Grant. - I met him briefly this year at the New York Comic Con. Real nice guy and great work! Something you dream to draw? Anything fun, full of action, and just flat out cool!

Which is your favorite MotoGP circuit? The only GP race I’ve been to is Laguna Seca because its close to where I live. I like the way the bikes look at night in Qatar and I also like watching the passionate fans in Mugello.

You can buy this special illustration. Click here for more info >>

Which is your favorite MotoGP Team? I don’t have any favorite teams - just want to see competitive racing. Which is your best drawing/Illustration? Not sure because I always like the latest moto drawing I’ve done until I do another one - then that newer one is my favorite, haha.

commemoration of the 40th anniversary of the man on the moon, Lorenzo showed this design for first time in Portugal 2009. 3 Another good model was the Captain America design, which Lorenzo wore in 2009 for the Indianapolis GP. 4 For the Japanese GP in 2010, the X-802 was painted with designs of Japanese culture and the Ministry of Tourism of Spain sponsored it. 5 To celebrate his MotoGP title Lorenzo surprised the paddock with this model, gold-plated and with encrusted Swarovski crystal in the 2010 Valencia GP. 6 F.C. Barcelona. Jorge has always shown his love for soccer and FC Barcelona. In 2009 Montmelo race wore the colors of the Catalan club. 7 This season, for the Czech Republic GP, the Yamaha rider used a helmet inspired by Maverick, starring in the movie Top Gun played by Tom Cruise. 8 In Indianapolis 2010, Jorge used again the comic as inspiration to decorate his helmet, this time Iron Man. 9 It is, with no doubt, the helmet that Lorenzo had never liked to wear. After the fatal accident of Shoya Tomizawa, Jorge wore a Shoya helmet replica.
