What fun it would be to pack up the kids and take a ride Upstate NY to one of the many farms to go apple picking. Well, you’re in luck because now is the perfect time to take advantage of the great weather ahead of us, the beautiful scenery and a great time to be had with the family. If you’ve never been then you don’t know what you’re missing. This is a perfect opportunity to spend quality time with the kids teaching them about how we get our produce and how man and nature has provided us with an abundance of food. Yes, this is your “green” moment too; stressing the importance of taking care of our environment and when we do the rewards we reap. Ok so enough of my soap box. Just pack up the kids, the dog too and pack a picnic lunch and head upstate. This time of year you can choose from end of the season tomatoes, further into the season raspberries and of course as October approaches the pumpkins will be ready to harvest. There are many farms to choose from that along with harvesting crops, you can go on a hay ride, visit their gift shop or dine at their casual restaurant. Check out the website pickyourown.org or just Google pick apples,
