With nearly 50 radio stations throughout Missouri and neighboring states, the Tiger Radio Network is one of the largest in the country. Returning for his 22nd season as voice of the Tigers is Mike Kelly. He began as Mizzou’s color commentator in 1990-91, and moved over to the play-byplay chair in 1991-92. He’s also the play-by-play voice of Missouri Football, and the host of Mizzou’s weekly statewide call-in show, Tiger Talk. A 1984 graduate of Southern Illinois-Carbondale, Kelly is entering his second year as a member of the insurance firm Huntleigh McGehee after serving at both the Insurance Group in Columbia and as Director of Broadcasting Operations for the Mizzou Department of Athletics. Prior to joining Mizzou, Kelly was a member of the KMOX Radio sports staff in St. Louis, where he worked since 1988. Kelly has also served as a play-by-play announcer for CBS Radio’s coverage of the NCAA Tournament, and called the action at the 2000 NFC Championship game between St. Louis and Tampa Bay. Gary Link, a Tiger basketball letterman from 197274, begins his 16th season as color commentator for Tiger Network broadcasts, and is in his sixth year as special assistant to the Director of Athletics. Link, a native of St. Louis where he was an All-State performer at Lindbergh High School in 1970, was Missouri’s second-leading scorer as a senior when he averaged 17.3 points per game. He starred as Norm Stewart’s sixth man earlier in his career. Link scored 745 points in 71 games as a Tiger (a 10.5 per-game average). The Tiger Network is a part of Mizzou Sports Properties, which also sponsors the Mizzou football and basketball game programs and highlight films, sells corporate sponsorship opportunities for Mizzou, and produces “Tiger Talk”. The Tiger Network is a division of Learfield Communications, one of the country’s largest syndicators of college sports. Learfield also owns and operates the Brownfield Network, the country’s largest agricultural network and provides statewide news throughout Missouri, Iowa and Wisconsin on the Missourinet, Radio Iowa and WRN.
