Il progetto ricostruisce, in un inedito e sorprendente rifacimento, la mostra ideata e realizzata da Harald Szeemann alla Kunsthalle di Berna nel 1969, e passata alla storia per il radicale approccio del curatore alla pratica espositiva, concepita come medium linguistico. La mostra, sottolineando ed evidenziando il passaggio tra passato e presente, si inserisce nello storico spazio architettonico del palazzo veneziano, arrivando ad inserire in scala 1:1 le stanze delimitate da superfici bianche della Kunsthalle. L’intento è ridare vita al processo espositivo con cui la storica esposizione venne realizzata, evitando la mediazione di documenti quali film e fotografie. In a novel and surprising remake, the project reconstructs an exhibition conceived and created by Harald Szeemann at the Kunsthalle in Bern in 1969, which made history due to the curator’s radical approach to exhibiting practices seen as a linguistic medium. Pinpointing and highlighting the passage between past and present, the exhibition fits into the historic architectural space at this Venetian palace, even setting the Kunsthalle rooms bordered by white surfaces inside it in a 1:1 scale. The intention is to give new life to the exhibiting process along which the historic show was organised, avoiding mediation through documents such as films and photographs. Due esposizioni curate da Germano Celant con Fabrizio Gazarri, proseguono il dialogo in parallelo instaurato dalla Fondazione tra l’opera del maestro veneziano e quella di alcuni grandi protagonisti dell’arte contemporanea. La prima mostra, dedicata alla produzione scultorea di uno dei massimi interpreti della pop art americana, presenta 45 opere tra disegni, collage, bozzetti, maquettes, modelli e sculture in bronzo realizzate tra il 1965 e il 1997, materiale per la prima volta presentato in Italia, proveniente in gran parte dalla Roy Lichtenstein Foundation e dall’Estate Roy Lichtenstein of New York. La seconda, raccoglie per la prima volta in maniera ampia e significativa opere di un insieme, realizzato tra il 1977 e il 1991, in parte inedito, frutto di un’inconsueta esperienza che testimonia la sorprendente e inesauribile forza poetica del maestro veneziano, considerato uno dei protagonisti più autorevoli dell’informale internazionale. Two exhibitions by curator Germano Celant with Fabrizio Gazarri, continuing the concurrent dialogue initiated by the Foundation between the Venetian master’s work and that of some great protagonists in contemporary art. The first exhibition, dedicated to the sculpture production of one of the greatest exponents of American pop art, presents 45 works between drawings, collages, sketches, maquettes, models and sculptures in bronze created between 1965 and 1997, materials presented in Italy for the first time, mostly from the Roy Lichtenstein Foundation and the Roy Lichtenstein Estate of New York. The second gathers for the first time in a broad and significant way the partly unseen group works made between 1977 and 1991, the result of unusual experience testifying to the surprising and inexhaustible poetic force of the Venetian master, considered one of the most authoritative protagonists in international informal art.
