A TRIBUTE TO OSCAR PETERSON FEATURING MARIAN PETRESCU AND JAMES MORRISON

INFO MACKAY

SUBLIME, COMPLEX AND UTTERLY INCANDESCENT, THIS GIFTED PIANIST BRINGS A JAZZ LEGEND TO LIFE. In his Australian premiere tour, Romanian-born virtuoso Marian Petrescu unleashes his stunning pianistic brilliance in this definitive jazz performance. The peerless Petrescu, who has been playing since the age of four, treats the piano as friend, sparring partner and lover. His eclectic and adventurous style combine with dazzling technique and dynamic interpretation, rich in imaginative nuances. With a soul-deep affinity for Oscar Peterson (arguably the most loved and revered jazz pianist of the 20th century), Petrescu’s A Tribute to Oscar Peterson receives standing ovations around the globe.

Called ‘The Horowitz of Jazz Piano’ by French jazz great Martial Solal, Petrescu’s sound rings of Peterson reincarnated. His fingers fly over the keys with Peterson’s spellbinding fluidity and swing, yet Petrescu has a vivacity and brilliance that is all his own. A festival exclusive not to be missed, Marian Petrescu plays alongside Artistic Director and multi-instrumentalist, James Morrison, who will also narrate this unforgettable performance.

“MARIAN IS IN A CLASS OF HIS OWN.”
