Passioned Huntresses - 365 OUR TOP INDEPENDENT AGENT! Mia Anstine is co-owner of Wolf Creek Outfitters, Inc. (wolfcreekoutfitters.net), which arranges hunting, fishing, horseback riding, and wilderness adventure trips in Colorado and New Mexico. An avid huntress and angler, Mia enjoys hunting for elk, mule deer, black bears, and Merriam’s turkeys, and loves both fresh- and saltwater fishing.

Stacey Huston is a wildlife photographer, with images published in numerous outdoor magazines and catalogs, as well as an avid huntress, angler, falconer, and raptor rehabilitator. She was raised in the mountains of northwest Montana, with a deep respect for the outdoors and all things wild. Stacey and her family enjoy hunting with longbows and self bows, and any time spent outside.

Niki Atcheson grew up in central Africa, where her father was a missionary doctor. Niki’s papa loved to hunt, and as a result she did, too. She returned to the U.S. to complete her education. Niki and her husband, Keith Atcheson, now live in Montana, where Niki guides for their business, Hunters Montana. But she returns to Africa regularly.

Stephanie Mallory owns Mallory Communications, Inc., and provides media relations services for numerous outdoor equipment companies, as well as contributing articles and photos for outdoor publications, websites, and marketing materials. She is also coauthor (with Beth Habeishi) of the book Basic Illustrated Archery, published by Falcon Guides.

Jennifer Barvitski is a Colorado architect, wife, and mother, who began hunting as a young girl with a BB gun, tagging along with her father and brother during dove season. She soon graduated to larger, more effective firearms. Now Jennifer prefers her BowTech Equalizer, Sako .300 Winchester Magnum, or Steyr Mannlicher .270, and her Ruger 20gauge or Beretta 12-gauge.

Kendra Petska grew up in the Sandhills region of Nebraska, in a family of hunters. She loves bowhunting and also pursues upland birds and waterfowl. An avid angler, she enjoys fishing the ocean in Alaska for salmon and halibut. Last year Kendra shot an awesome mule deer buck, and she was extremely successful while hunting in Africa this year.

Amy Hanneman began hunting in 2003 and quickly realized that hunting would become her lifelong passion. Since then she’s moved from beginning shooter to successful huntress with bow and muzzleloader as well. Her favorites are do-it-yourself hunts on public lands. Many have been filmed for TV. She also writes for bowhuntingroad.com.

Missy Sharrone craves the peace, comfort, and passion of the woods. Spending time in a tree stand allows her mind to leave the regular world behind and focus on one of life’s greatest pleasures, hunting. White-tailed deer, black bears, wild boars, and turkeys are some of Missy’s favorite game animals to pursue. She especially loves bowhunting, and took her first wild turkey with a bow.

Oregonian Kelly Heard is a wife, mother, and grandmother who has loved the great outdoors since childhood. She has been an avid rifle hunter for Oregon’s abundant game, including blacktails and mule deer, Roosevelt and Rocky Mountain elk, antelopes, and black bears. At 46 Kelly picked up a bow for the first time and now bowhunts almost exclusively.

Relatively new to hunting, U.S. Army Captain Leslie Smith (Ret.) has been successful despite tremendous challenges. While serving in Bosnia, Leslie fell ill and almost lost her life. As a result her left leg was amputated below the knee, and she lost vision in her left eye and much of her vision in her right eye. Leslie is a talented speaker and a dedicated advocate for injured veterans.

Holly Heyser started hunting in 2006 at her boyfriend’s invitation, and quickly fell in love with the food, the culture, and the deep connection to nature that she discovered. A year later, she began her hunting blog, NorCal Cazadora. Her greatest passion is duck hunting, followed closely by doves and wild boars.

Tracey Splechter is vice-president for operations at Outdoor Connection (gohuntandfish. com), a hunting and fishing travel service she has helped run since 1999. She lives in Kansas with her husband and two daughters. Tracey loves fishing, sporting clays, and hunting. She has fished for marlin in Hawaii, for salmon on Lake Michigan, and for multiple gamefish in Florida.
