COMING UP IN COMMUNITY MATTERS:

Everyone has a story to tell

Staying in touch with your children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren often means getting used to using some new technologies. How do you use technology to keep up with your family? How has technology made life easier? How has technology kept you close to family and friends who live far away?

If you’ve got a story to share about how you’re using technology, contact Keri Edwards, and your story could be featured in an upcoming edition of Community Matters.

Fulton Presbyterian Manor hosts free session for seniors

Maintaining physical activity is crucial to aging well. As we grow older, the more strength that we lose, the higher our chances of falling. Older adults in the Fulton area are invited to a free fitness screening event April 27, sponsored by Fulton Presbyterian Manor. Presbyterian Manor’s rehabilitation therapy provider, RehabCare, will conduct physical assessments for strength, agility, flexibility and balance. 2 COMMUNITY MATTERS APRIL 2016

April is Administrative Professionals Month

If you’ve ever worked in a busy office environment, then you know one thing is for certain: administrative professionals are the hub on which the entire office spins. They’re steady, dependable, knowledgeable about nearly every aspect of the organization, and have behind-the-scenes knowledge on a variety of topics. To show our appreciation, we’re celebrating National Administrative Professionals Month, and honoring all the many ways these important team members make it all possible.

Employee spotlight:

Administrative Assistant Lauren White may be relatively new to Presbyterian Manor, but that doesn’t mean she’s not already a valued part of the

Presbyterian Manor family. She began her journey here in January 2016, and brings with her a variety of experiences. She’s done a little bit of everything, from bartending to food service to managing a bowling alley. “I really enjoy working with people, hearing their stories,” said Lauren. “Residents especially like to talk to me about bowling, since I have my league certification. It seems that everyone has a bowling story.”

Lauren is originally from Columbia, Mo., but recently moved to Fulton to be closer to her mother and ailing grandfather. She has a daughter who’s five, getting ready to turn six. Lauren is glad to be close to family, both at home and at work.

“This is my first ‘desk’ job, but I love to learn and there’s something new every day,” said Lauren. “One thing that surprised me here is how well residents are treated. It’s more like a family environment. Everyone is really respectful and kind.”

We’re glad to have Lauren as part of our family now, and we appreciate all the contributions of Administrative Professionals, especially this month!
