Medieval Marvels with LEGO®

Travel back in time to the age of kings and queens, when knights defended honor, and mighty castles stood as the home to young civilizations. In this class, we will examine the techniques of ancient builders to create their castles to stand the test of time (or cleanup). We’ll also explore the working mechanisms of medieval siege weapons like catapults, trebuchets, mangonels, ballistas, and we’ll learn a little history as we reenact epic battles in LEGO scale. $35 / $29 Resident Discount • 1 workshop Age 6-10

Explore the technology of Batman through LEGO®. Design the mechanics behind cool vehicles like the Batmobile, the Batcopter, and the Batcycle. Create the Batman’s secret hideout, the Batcave. Help invent new technologies to fight crime. Wayne Enterprises is looking for a new research and development team. This class is designed for young innovators who have a passion to create new gadgets and contraptions.

Design and build machines powered by alternative energy sources. Race solar cars, build a wind-powered electrical generation facility, enter the human powered vehicle competition, and invent a machine powered by stored elastic strain energy. Instruction will be provided by staff, but familiarity with LEGO Technic is desirable.

Art and Architecture with LEGO®

Explore great works of art and architecture through LEGO! Collaborate in small groups to build grand structures such as the Parthenon in Greece, the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, the tree houses of Papua New Guinea, or New York’s Empire State Building. Follow in the footsteps of master artists with LEGO interpretations of sculptures, mosaics, or stained glass. Teamwork and creativity take “high culture” to the next level! Age 6-10

Leonardo da Vinci’s Workshop with LEGO®

Explore the mechanisms and inventions of one of the greatest minds of the Italian Renaissance: Leonardo da Vinci! Build cool LEGO® projects like the cam hammer, the Archimedes Screw, and the worm gear lifter. Learn concepts of engineering, physics and more as we have fun recreating the various contraptions from the creative mind of da Vinci!
