Pancake breakfast May 25 at Amy’s Amy’s on the Bay will host their annual $5 Pancake Breakfast on May 25, from 8-10 a.m. All proceeds from the event will go to South Kitsap Helpline. Amy’s on the Bay is located at 100 Harrison St. For more information, call 360-876-4089.

Safe driving class for senior citizens set The American Association for Retired Person (AARP) will conduct a safe driving class for seniors at the Port Orchard Eagles Hall, 4001 Jackson St., on May 27 and 28 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. both days. Fee for the class is $15 for AARP members and $20 for non-members. Call 360-895-3173 to sign up. There will be no classes in June and July.

Local students named to Dean’s List SEATTLE — Four Port Orchard students made the Seattle Pacific University 2014 Winter Quarter Dean’s List. They were Michael David Powell, Maxwell Robert Pressey, Sarah SongLi Rasmussen and Bailey Alexandra Wilson. Students on the Dean's List have completed at least 12 credits and attained a 3.50 or higher grade point average. Seattle Pacific University serves more than 4,000 undergraduate and graduate students.

SKHS grad completes basic training Air Force Airman Melissa M. Beers graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio. The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills. Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force. Beers, the daughter of Sandy and Curtis Beers of Port Orchard, is a 2012 graduate of South Kitsap High School.

More than 100 former members of the South Kitsap High School drill team from 1951 to 1998 are planning to attend a reunion on May 17 at the Clubhouse at the McCormick Woods Golf Course. She said there are four members from the Class of 1960 who have planned to attend. “They will be the oldest members attending,” Lee said. “We have some coming from the Class of 1997. So we have members during about a 40-year period.” She said most members are from the 1970s and early 1980s.
