The Mercer Island 10U Thunder baseball team recently won the Bend Elks Memorial Day baseball tournament in Bend, Ore. The Thunder includes: Alex Arron, Nathan Buchan, Tyler Butson, Evan Dickstein, Caiden Fukano, Wesley Ho, Michael Lee, Will MacCormack, Jack Mattox, Paul Noone and Tripp White. The team is coached by Mike Dickstein, Peter Noone and Travis White.

Mercer Islander helps O’Dea to second-place state trophy Mercer Island resident and senior at O’Dea High School helped the Irish golf team to a second-place finish at the state tournament in May. Michael Schaloum, a co-

captain on the team, finished in sixth place overall at the tournament and also won the sportsmanship medal during the tournament. Schaloum will be attending and playing golf for the University of Redlands in the fall.

Mercer Island track athletes earn KingCo honors Over 10 members of the Mercer Island High School girls and boys track and field teams earned All-KingCo honors this spring. On the boys team, first team honors went to Eric Schulz for the 800 meters and as a member of the boys 4x400 relay. Matt Wotipka was honored for his races in the 3,200-meter event, while Greyson Weltyk earned first team honors as a high jumper. The boys 4x400 team was also named to the first team. On the girls team, Lorial Yeadon was named to the first team in the 100 meters, while Laura Harrison earned

Victoria Gersch was named to the first team for the 200 and the 4x400 relay. Alida Scalzo earned first team honors for the 1,600-meter race. Emily Bassett was named for the shot put and discus, Lindsay Lightfoot earned the honor for the 100-meter hurdles, and Emily Lightfoot earned honors for the high jump, as did Kris Brackmann. Latrevian Saunders was honored for the triple jump. The girls 4x400 relay team also

earned first team honors.

Mercer Island girls lacrosse players earn postseason honors Three students from Mercer Island have earned All-State honors for their participation in lacrosse this spring. Senior attackers Dulce Moll and Tyler Sherper were both named to the All-State first team, as was Natalie Fox, a senior at Lakeside School,

attend the camps, four of which are comprehensive skills camps open to all players. Two are special skills camps for players in fifth through eighth grade. The special camps are designed to help students with shooting and ball handling skills. Anyone interested in attending the special skills camps need to have participated in the other camps.
