H errenkn eC Ht AG: tr enCHLess I nstALLAtI O n OF PIPeLIn es WOr LDW IDe. Breakthrough achieved with safety and precision: Herrenknecht Tunnelling systems are participating in numerous renowned projects worldwide using trenchless technology. For crossings and shore approaches in suitable ground conditions and for longer distances Herrenknecht has developed a wide range of HDD rigs with pulling forces of up to 600t (1,350,000lbs). Auxiliary devices such as the Herrenknecht Pipe Thruster are also available: depending on the project the Pipe Thruster can be used as a support, rescue or pipe installation tool. Furthermore, the Pipe Thruster delivers the necessary thrust force for the innovative Direct Pipe® method. A challenging shore approach was realized on Barrow Island, north-west of Australia, where 9 pipelines from 8–34" in diameter with lengths between 450 and 520m has been installed by using two Herrenknecht HDD-Rigs for the drilling operations and a 500t Pipe-Thruster to install the pipes from onto off-shore.
