Rail workers revealed White Rock Museum and Archives invites everyone to celebrate the Year of the Snake by taking in the travelling exhibit Chinese Legacies. The exhibit began as a collaborative project between Revelstoke Railway Museum and Revelstoke Museum and Archives. The exhibit, Chinese Legacies: Building the Canadian Pacific Railway, featured at Revelstoke Railway Museum since 2008, explores the fascinating story of the Chinese labourers who contributed to the construction of the Canadian Pacific Railway between Port Moody and Craigellachie. In White Rock, visitors will see a diorama of a campsite, artifacts such as an opium pipe and incense burner, video, photo slide show and an interactive station for children. As well, the museum is featuring artwork created by young artists and members of

‘Year of Gif’ on screen Acclaimed artist Paul Wong speaks Wednesday about “Year of Gif,” the latest work shown on Surrey Urban Screen. Wong’s creation draws on an archive of hundreds of smartphone GIFs he made over the past year. An opening reception for the exhibit Wednesday, Jan. 23 features Wong in conversation, at Surrey Art Gallery starting at 7 p.m. The title of Wong’s talk is “Now + Then (Mobile Media: Video Portpak to Smart Phone)”.
