Obituaries
BERGER, Jacob
April 16, 1923 - December 20, 2012 Jacob (Dad) passed away peacefully and went on to join his loving wife Hedwig (Mom) in the Father’s house. Born in Alexandrowka in the Ukraine, Jacob, along with his wife Hedwig, immigrated to Canada from Germany in 1950 and settled in Regina Saskatchewan to raise their family. They moved to B.C. in 1970 and started a new chapter where he continued to build and the family continued to grow. Survived by his six children, Bernard, Karl (Denise), Joe (Laura), Alfons (Denise) Ingrid (Gary), Thomas (Anne) and nine grandchildren, Marisa, Paul, Jeffrey, Wesley, Colin, Gregory, Ian, Mary and Brian, Dad (Grandpa) will be dearly missed. Jacob will always be remembered as a master carpenter and builder who devoted his life to his work and his family. He passed his strong work ethic on to his children and grandchildren and will always be known for his unfailing determination and his “it’s not a big problem” attitude when it came to life’s challenges. Jacob departed this world in the comfort and quiet of Zion Park Manor in Cloverdale where the staff lovingly cared for him for the past two years. A funeral mass will be held on January 3rd at 10:30 AM at Precious Blood Parish in Cloverdale followed by a reception at the Parish Center. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to the Lutheran Senior Citizens’ Housing Society which operates Zion Park Manor.
