09-30-08; DANVILLE POLICE ARE SEEKING A STOLEN PIECE OF HEAVY CONSTRUCTION EQUIPMENT Danville Police are investigating the theft of a stolen 2003 Caterpillar model 420D backhoe. The backhoe is the property of Crews Construction and was stolen from a construction site at the corner of Riverside Drive and Fairview Avenue. The backhoe is equipped with heat, air conditioning, a radio, four wheel drive, and valued at approximately $65,000.00
09-30-08 DANVILLE POLICE HAVE CHARGED A RINGGOLD MAN WITH SEVERAL VIOLENT CRIMES At approximately 2:00AM yesterday morning, Danville Police spotted a black Toyota Camry at the Pilot gas station on South Boston Road which had been reported by Halifax County Sheriff’s Office to be involved in an unauthorized use of a vehicle case. Police received information that the vehicle was being operated by Christiaan David Jeter age 22 of Ringgold, Virginia. When police spotted the vehicle, it was occupied by a male who fit the description of Jeter. The vehicle exited the lot of the Pilot station and headed east on South Boston Road. Police activated blue lights and siren to initiate a traffic stop. The vehicle did not stop and continued to disregard the officer’s blue lights and siren. The vehicle continued into Pittsylvania County where officers had set up stop sticks in anticipation of the path of the vehicle. The suspect vehicle ran over the stop sticks causing the tires to deflate and ultimately the vehicle struck a tree in the 4000 block on Tom Fork Road. The driver was identified as Christiaan Jeter, who was armed but apprehended without further incident. Jeter was not injured in the incident. Subsequent to the arrest, Jeter was linked to the recent murder of Jacob Bunker, two robberies, and a shooting incident. -A special grand jury convened and indicted Jeter for: capital murder, attempted robbery, and use of a firearm during the commission of a felony for the murder of Jacob Bunker. At 1:05 AM on September 26th, Danville Police responded to the 100 block of Cedar Place in reference to multiple calls of shots fired. Officers arrived and found Jacob Bunker age 22 of Danville lying on the sidewalk. He was prounounced dead at the scene. The Medical Examiner reported that Bunker died as the result of multiple gun shot wounds. -Jeter was indicted for felony eluding and possessing cocaine with the intent to distribute from the incident which started at the Pilot gas station. -He was charged with a September 3rd incident for shooting into an occupied vehicle and use of a firearm during the commission of a felony. The incident occurred on Wesley Drive. No one was injured in the incident. -He was charged with malicious wounding, shooting into occupied dwelling, and use of a firearm during the commission of a felony for the August 11th robbery of the Fas Mart. At approximately 11:06PM, Danville Police responded to the Fas Mart convenience store for a reported robbery and shots fired situation. A female employee of the business told police that a man walked into the store, produced a handgun and demanded money. A male subject who was in the store struggled with the gunman in an attempt to gain control of the situation. The gunman pointed the gun at the male subject and shot him. The gun reportedly jammed, and the gunman attempted to clear the weapon and shoot the female employee. Fortunately, the gun did not fire and the female was not injured. The gunman then went behind the counter and took an undisclosed amount of money. The gunman was described as a young black male, average build, approximately 165 lbs, wearing black hooded sweatshirt, gray sweatpants with a black net covering his face. He fled the store on foot across Piney Forest Road toward the Woodberry Hills neighborhood. The man who was shot was transported to the hospital where he was treated for his non life threatening injuries. -He was charged with armed robbery, and use of a firearm for the August 8th robbery of the Hilltop Exxon.

At 12:23 AM Danville Police responded to 730 Piney Forest Road, Hilltop Exxon, for a reported armed robbery that had just occurred. The clerks reported that two black males entered the store, produced handguns and demanded money from the register and Lottery drawer. The suspects also took a carton of Newport cigarettes before fleeing the store. Both suspects were described as being approximately 5’7 180lbs wearing white tee shirts and blue jeans. Both are also described as being in their late 20’s to early 30’s. Police are still seeking the other suspect.
