The audit also included the following areas: maintenance, procurement, competence training and awareness, internal audit, corrective/preventive actions, and management review validation. The ISO 9001:2008 specifies requirements for a QMS where an organization needs to demonstrate its ability to consistently provide product and services that meet customer and applicable regulatory and statutory satisfaction. Moreover, it aims to continually improve client satisfaction through the effective application of the system, including processes for continual improvement. 32

The ISO Certification renewal is not an outright privilege; it requires an annual surveillance audit and a more thorough reassessment audit every three years. Engr. Joselito C. Soler, CIPI head of certification, led the team that conducted the reassessment. CIPI is one of the best ISO 9001:2008 standard certifiers, both in the country and abroad, duly accredited by the Philippine Accreditation Board (PAB) and the United Kingdom Accreditation System (UKAS). Dr. Laidan described the latest certification as a validation of DOST-12’s accomplishments in its continued implementation of the international QMS standard as an instrument to further enhance the office’s competitiveness and to meet the needs and expectations of the people.
