Fish in Normin free of contamination – BFAR by Lorry V. Gabule

he Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) in Northern Mindanao assured the public that fish, seaweed and other related resources in Macajalar Bay, Iligan Bay and Panguil Bay are free of contamination from corpses seen floating in the areas during the recent flashfloods.
This assurance came after a certification issued by Director Visa Tan-Dimerin of BFAR, region 10. Dimerin said she sent fishery health personnel to check possible 16

contamination of aquatic resources in Iligan, Lanao del Norte, Misamis Oriental, Cagayan de Oro and Camiguin due to flashfloods caused by tropical storm Sendong which killed more than a thousand people last December. Results of the study revealed there is no contamination of fish and aquatic resources here. Dimerin, on the other hand, reminded the public to clean and cook properly fish and aquatic resources before consuming them as usually practiced.
