Black History Month: Biannual Fine Arts Exhibit “Winston Harris: Printmaking in 2 and 3 Dimensions” The work of Mr. Harris is an innovative combination of traditional and non-traditional, abstract printmaking techniques that are utilized to produce compelling two dimensional and three dimensional mono prints. Through experimentation and working with established painters, sculptors and printmakers as well as working under the tutelage of Sam Gilliam, Jr. and Michael Platt, Mr. Harris has been able to expand his printmaking into the third dimension.

Sixteen professional artists maintain open studio hours for the public 10 am–5 pm daily, seven days a week. Three galleries present changing exhibitions of local and national artists in a variety of media and styles. Concerts present nationally recognized artists in a quaint, intimate setting. Jacqueline Lee Combining a love of collage with a passion for quilting, this artist creates collage quilts that revolve around figurative compositions.

May 2– June 26 Reception: Friday, June 14, 7– 9 pm

Judith Kornett Ceramic figurative sculpture that is wood and raku fired draws an emphasis on texture, color, and detail with psychological and humorous undertones.

Laurel Art Guild Juried Exhibition The diverse works in this exhibition by artists Kit-Keung Kan (shown above), Freda Lee-McCann and In-soon Shin, highlight the pursuit of new directions in the oriental ink media and is built upon the traditional oriental painting and calligraphy foundation of each artist. Contemporary American art influences are also clearly reflected in the artists’ perceptions of their work and serve to emphasize the new directions these artists are pursuing.

The Gallery and classroom are available for meetings, workshops and seminars. Please call for information.

Instructors Show Montpelier Arts Center class instructors will show off their own artistic talents.

A favorite at Montpelier, the incomparable Baltimore-based Ennis has sung to critical acclaim all over the world. Ethel Ennis’ voice possesses a smooth, buttery tone heavily vested in swing, and versatile enough to deliver from the classic songbook and original material.
